It also keeps the shoulder harness close to your center of gravity which also increases BCD/harness comfort. The Highland by XS Scuba Sternum Strap is a heavy-duty technical strap assembly built from 1.5" (3.8cm) webbing with a length of 11" (28cm). Strap comes with 2" x 4" (5.1cm x 10.2cm) stainless steel sliders for extreme durability. Strap has an adjustable squeeze-style side-release buckle on one side. 4 stainless steel rivets hold everything together. Simple vertical adjustment by sliding up and down makes this one great strap assembly.

Works alright. Very solidly made. Webbing is very wide. Would be nice if the metal plates were a bit more rounded rather than square-edged. Those edges are uncomfortable and dig into my arms unless I mount it way up by my shoulders (to the point where it's actually touching my neck). But it does the job: Keeps my shoulder straps from sliding back while I have a stage bottle attached, and generally makes my harness a bit more comfortable.
