HC-SR04 Ultrasonic Sensor

  • HC-SR04 Ultrasonic Sensor is a device that can measure the distance to an object by using sound waves. It measures distance by sending out a sound wave at a specific frequency and listening for that sound wave to bounce back. By recording the elapsed time between the sound wave being generated and the sound wave bouncing back, it is possible to calculate the distance between the sonar sensor and the object.

So far, this sensor has been about what I expected. Produces okay results within its operational range, and not hard to get up and running- just don’t expect pin-point accuracy.So far, it appears that the minimum distance it can measure is roughly 7.5 inches- closer than that, and it looks like the echo resolves too fast?Other concern is that the sensor I received appears to have maybe been pushed in on one side? It hasn’t been a show stopper yet, but there is evidence that the detection region is off center.All told, competent sensor as long as you go in aware of the potential limitations.

Descriptoin states that working voltage is DC 3-5.5V. In fact it does not work with 3.3V.
