The expander worked great for the first two times. Then the third time it expanded as designed but when I retracted the center bolt the bearing exploded.

It was complicated but worked well . Needs better directions I am a very smart person in mechanical or I would not have been able to get it to work. I used my cordless 3/4 gun it works flawless. Great tool for the money.

Returned it. Unless you are working with very thin low quality exhaust pipe it won’t do a thing

Exactly as advertised, take your time and grease it up. Used it on a 2.5 “ muffler.

First time using this and this is what it did. The driving bolt that spreads the forms that stretch the exhaust became damaged at the threads and became stuck inside my exhaust. Do not make my mistake, do not buy this, it is cheap garbage. I now have to get a new section of stainless exhaust pipe and it's going to cost me another $300, just for one section of pipe. If I could give zero stars I would.

I've been in a pinch more than a few times when doing exhaust repairs. Usually I have to cobble together some pipe adapters from the local auto store. This means more connections and clamps and it just looks less professional. When I used to work in the garage (ages ago) we used to have a heavier duty version of this where we would use an impact gun to widen pipes for slipping over another pipe. This is the same concept but just doesn't seem to be as heavy duty.It comes with a nice assortment of pipe sizes. It also comes with some grease, which I used liberally on the included taper bearing and sliding surfaces. I grabbed a couple of scrap 2" pipes and went to work to test this out with an impact socket and Johnny bar in hand.It took multiple tries and a lot of force to get it to expand. But, it did eventually expand. The 2" size was using the steel expanders. Larger sizes use aluminum and I'm not convinced to the longevity of the alum expanders. I would have much preferred all steel.I think if I'd have applied a little heat the expansion would have gone a lot more willingly but I wanted to test a cold expansion first. My sole real beef with the set is that the expander for 2" runs out of expansion just a hair before the inner diameter will fit over the outer diameter. It reaches the end of the thread run. They should have left enough expansion room to allow slightly oversizing. In the end, I did get my 2" to fit over the other 2" piece. It was a struggle though, and not by any means simple and quick. That said, it's price-point puts it at a great value, even if it will cost you some time and aggravation.
