About this item

  • Our Planing Sled is an affordable solution for surfacing or milling live edge slabs, wide stock, butcher blocks or workbenches, removing a finish from a surface and other jobs impossible for a planer. Router & Bit NOT included.
  • 51" wide maximum capacity, 60" Ultra Track rails & 32" Double Track rails
  • 3" tall Ultra Track aluminum rails support the router and won't deflect as you move the router back and forth over the stock. Router glides between the Ultra Track rails for front-to-back movement. You supply two wood rails, 12" to 16" longer than the work. No limit to the length of the work. Double Tracks glide on top of the wood rails and guide the router/Ultra Tracks from side-to-side.
  • Includes a NoDrill Plate with a quick attach feature so your router can be quickly attached or removed. Works with any router bit you supply that has an overall length of at least 2-1/2" and a maximum diameter of 2-1/2". Our optional 13600 upshear router bit leaves a great surface finish, has a 1-1/2" cutting diameter, a 5/8" cutting length, a 2-1/2" overall length and a 1/2" shank. Router not included.
  • Lifetime guarantee against defects in material or workmanship. Made in the USA!

Great stuff, I've be very happily planing with it. The rails and sled are top quality heavy duty and true. I don't know if they sell cross rails but they might be a good investment in its one less thing you have to be sure is level.

I have two different routers, I thought one of them, at least would fit.Neither did. I am not seeing in the literature that I have to use a Boscherouter, but that is the only one shown in their listing. So, now I have to gobuy a THIRD router to use this sled. Not great.

I haven't used the router sled yet but assembly was easy following the well written instructions. Materials are good quality. My only complaint would be a better way to mount the router to the sled. I have a DeWalt router on there. It's recommended to use the plunge base but I have both bases and currently have the fixed base mounted.

This is a high-quality sled and holds together well. I was able to rout an 8ft x 4ft walnut slab with it. One thing to watch for is that the router can move under pressure even while clamped down. I was continually checking location and re-tightening the clamps as I worked the sled. My recommendation to the company manufacturing the sled would be to provide a less slick surface for the router to set upon. For my next project I may use double sided table to help ensure the router stays where I want it.

Sled and tracks arrived well packaged. It is heavy! Robust design using standard aluminum and phenolic structural components that can be expanded. Good hardware packs and instructions. Sled and rails all went together in less than an hour. Minor tweaks to tighten everything square. Smooth XY motion and stable due to heft.Best points:1) Very reasonably priced for what you get; better quality than expected and MUCH better than what I could make on my own2) Standard hardware and aluminum extrusions means you can easily replace or expand this jig3) Can be disassembled easily for storage and transportation

My planer is 16". I've been getting in to wider live edge furniture and needed a way to plane wider boards. Took a bit to get it all set up, but works great! Very nice quality. I also purchased the tracks to ensure everything was nice and square/level.

I know there's several ways to skin a cat, I've used my own shop built router sled with decent results , however I make a lot of end-grain cutting boards commercially and really don't want to take the chance and run them through the planer for safety reasons. The drum sander is ok but takes too much time to plane after glue-up. This sled is the answer, user friendly, adaptable, well made, and the folks at Woodhaven are great to work with. There were four brackets missing from the original order, I called Woodhaven, relayed the story and was sent the missing parts priority mail (I think the same day) with no issues. I make many of my own clamps and jigs, but time is of great value in my shop so I would definitely order from these folks again.

While assembling and adjusting unit, noticed one of the ultra tracks was not perfectly straight. So the sled is tight at the ends and loose in the middle. It will probably still work OK so I haven't decided to return it yet. BUT... emailed Woodhaven twice to see if they would just replace it. They have not responded.I will update this if Woodhaven provides support behind their product. But for now, apparently I can't count on them.Update: Not only is Woodhaven replacing the very slightly defective part but, they are willing to send the replacement while I hold and use the bad one! When I get the new one, I will return the bad one. Only a stand-up company would do this.
