Peerless Rattan Chair Cane Seat Weaving and Basket Supplies
Pressed in Cane Mesh
For chair seats and backs where there is a groove around the edge of the seat and the cane is held in place by spline. When ordering pressed cane, add two inches to the length and width or diameter for proper sizing. Tools needed include: spline chisel, 1 package of 5 caning wedges, glue, a sharp trimming tool and a small hammer. To determine the correct size of cane you need, measure the distance from the CENTER of one hole to the CENTER of the next hole. It will be 3/8″, 7/16″, 1/2″, 5/8″, 3/4″ or 1″. If you are in doubt about sizes, send a sample from the old chair & we will match it.
Strand Cane Seat Repair
Strand cane is used in chairs that have holes drilled around the perimeter of the seat. The process consists of weaving strands of cane through these holes to form the desired pattern. The size of the cane is determined by the diameter of the holes and space between center to center. A finishing strip of binder cane is needed to cover holes at the end of the weaving process. One hank of 1000 feet is sufficient for two to four chair seats.
Fibre Rush
Fibre Rush is a durable, twisted paper, made to resemble natural twisted cattail rush. Colors: Kraft Brown and White. A 2 pound coil will approximately do an average size seat. Larger seats may take more than 2 pounds.
Laced Danish Cord 3 Ply 2 Lb. Coil, 360′, this is the Denmark weave style, which is the original, quality material from Denmark.
