Arrived with no damage, seems to be good quality. Doesn't quite make the sound I was hoping for but I found if you turn the base upside down, it produces a louder effect.

It looks and feels good, but it's a little smaller and much lighter than I imagined. The "metal" band came undone almost immediately (I glued it back on). The block is dented easily.This is more of a prop than a functional item, but it'll do on a pinch.

This is a good gavel to conduct local meetings. Seems solid and functional. I said a good gavel for local meetings because it's construction is not out of oak, maple, on any other hardwood. So, if you plan on slamming it down on the "block" it's not going to last very long. Also, it is of a smaller size so I wouldn't use it in a larger meeting. A local meeting where there's 20 - 40 people would be fine. It's smaller size gives it a lighter sound.
