In order to measure moisture content the user must set the device to the correct "density" for the type of wood being measured. The supplied density chart is far from comprehensive. For example, it includes "red oak" but does not include "white oak," or any of the varieties of white oak. Instead, there is a catch-all "Quercus" density. The meter indicates ambient air temperature, but the instructions do not say anything about how to adjust the results to account for temperature (e.g. "there is a correction of about 1% MC for every 20 F above or below 70 F for pin meters"). What is the temperature-based correction required for this pin meter?

I actuallu liked this product for the price. Big screen. Seems to have easy tonuse features. I've tried a few different pieces cut from the same tree drying together for consistency and the meter seems to not have too much variation. Color coded screen, useful information. You can select the wood thickness.For the price. It's a pretty good unit.

It is very intuitive, makes it incredibly easy to learn how to read the screen and change the modes etc. I love that it’s pinless , as I’m checking drywall very often. Seems durable enough for a handyman, I’m very happy with it.

We had to buy this moisture meter to help with a DIY project. Our chimney had a leak that was running into the house, and it had done serious damage unbeknownst to us. The meter helped us pinpoint how far the water damage had reached. We repaired everything and retested with the meter after a strong rain. Thankfully, all worked out, and the meter helped us tremendously. It is simple to operate, but that may be because I have some prior knowledge of using them. It's still a great buy either way!

Without pin measurements, they are great for quickly testing areas without causing any damage to the tested materials. Using the pins is more accurate once you find a trouble area, but it does leave marks behind.

I’ve been using the WOODSAVR moisture meter for a few weeks now, and it’s been super handy. The pin and pinless options make it really versatile—great for checking firewood or even testing for leaks in walls.
