Wow, this is a super useful tool! I couldn't believe how hard it was to find a 'counter-bore' bit. Plenty of countersinks, but counter-bore is what I needed. And this delivered! I built sides for my trailer and used this counter bore on 138 holes in white oak. It still cuts just as beautiful as the first hole, after 138 counter-bores. In white oak. I ordered two, just because I wasn't sure if it would hold up. Well, now I have a brand new extra one for my next project. If you want to recess a nut and washer, with a flat surface, counter-bore is what you want. I have included a couple pics. I didn't originally plan to counter-bore, so I had fit the sides and pre-drilled for 5/16" carriage bolts. To index the counter-bore after holes had already been drilled, I bought a long 5/16" bolt with plenty of unthreaded shank, cut off the head and threads, ground the end to a taper, and used that instead of a drill bit. Put it in the drill press on a medium speed and every counter-bore was perfectly centered. Highly recommend this bit.
