It's a big hassel for me. I bought it back in 2016, immediately there was an issue with the control board. I drove all the way to the US to ship it to its Whynter then picked it up after. It's 2 trips. Then Amazon came back and said why didn't I just returned but it was a lot of work done already. Anyway, just 3 years after warranty, the control board went again. First it was just shutting off on its own intermittently, but then more frequent, and now it's dead. It's embarrasing. Well, since it's COVID nobody came to my place but now they first thing people will ask, why didn't you turn on your wine celler?

Seems like all wine fridges have poor ratings on Amazon, but I needed one so I went with the Whynter 33 bottle. For 2 years it worked great, but stopped cooling after 2 years. After looking at the Whynter website, it looks like my fridge needs a fuse replaced. Luckily I bought a SquareTrade warranty ($40) at the time I purchased this fridge. SquareTrade is sending me a check for the price I paid for the fridge (minus tax). I wouldn't recommend to buy this fridge seeing as how there are a ton of other reviews with the same problem. The factory warranty looks like crap and requires you to pay for shipping.

Good value, a little noisy

After researching a number of wine refrigerators for my lakehouse, I bought this model last summer. It was easy to install in the space previously occupied by a ice maker and looks and works great. Some reviewers commented on the noise - but it is so quiet I hardly know it is running. The temperature range is good for reds or whites and the shelves are removable so you can fit larger bottles in the unit.As for Whynter customer service - I rate it 5 stars. Within a week of installing the refrigerator, I had a problem with the door lock. The metal tab that is designed to extend out of the bottom of the door to lock the refrigerator didn't work properly and kept dropping down and blocking the door from opening/closing. I contacted customer service, explained my problem and sent a few pictures and within a few days they shipped me a new door to replace the faulty one.The wine refrigerator has been a nice addition - glad I made the purchase.

So far so good, but have only had it 3 weeks. It does cycle on and off A LOT but the tech people say that is normal. A bit on the noisy side but certainly cools the white wine nicely. Nice looking unit too.*****Update Oct/2015 - unit has quit cooling. Customer service is very nice at Whynter - but tech people don't respond with even a quote. From everything I know, this unit cannot be repaired anywhere close to me so if I want it repaired it will require a cost prohibitive shipping cost. Very expensive 1 year wine cooler. For these types of things I will now only buy from Costco - where service is so good - you just take it back and get a new one. Done!

We have had this wine refrigerator for about two months now. It was an early Christmas surprise because of a sale going on, which prompted me to pull the trigger and order it, even though I was a bit leery from some of the various reviews. I was half expecting it to make enough noise where it sounded like a small Cessna airplane, but thankfully it doesn't.It arrived undamaged and packaged well (UPS really dropped the ball on delivering this in the stated time, however), and the handle went on the door easy enough.I let the unit stand for several hours to warm up as it had been on the truck all day and it was below zero here. I read through the instruction on how to change the temp and unlocking the keypad to do it (easy enough). When I finally plugged it in, it quickly got to my temperature I selected (48 degrees). As other reviews have stated, the chrome metal ends on the shelves will be about ready to fall off. The next day, I purchased some gel super glue, pulled them all off, removed the old, crappy glue (scrapes right off), and reattached them.So after about 2 months, here is what I have noticed: The compressor itself rarely runs unless we are going in and out of the fridge for wine. It maintains the temperature well. I noticed one time when the door had been open for a few minutes, the temperature indicator showed it went up to 52 degrees. The compressor was on and quickly returned it to 48 degrees. There is a circulation fan that constantly cycles off and on. I don't really notice it any more, and it was not bothersome initially either. It makes no more noise, or perhaps less, than our regular fridge.I couldn't understand why the fan did this however, so I started doing some research (We are not wine experts, mind you). What I found in an article was that air circulation in a wine cooler or wine cellar is important, as is humidity (which explains the container for water, which I didn't initially understand the need for) so that corks don't dry out, etc.Upon learning this, I understand now that the unit operates as it should. All in all, we are happy with the unit's performance, looks, and capacity and I am glad I made the purchase.

DO NOT BUY THIS UNIT UNLESS YOU LIVE IN SANTA FE SPRINGS CA -- THEY EXPECT YOU TO PAY FOR SHIPPING TO THEM FOR SERVICE - LOWEST PRICE QUOTED IS $180 TO SHIP THIS PIECE OF CRAP! PLUS KEEP THE BOX IT CAME IN OR THEY WON"T WARRANTY IT!Noisy is an understatement. I can't for the life of me understand why this cooler makes so much noise. I have it installed level on a hardwood floor in a row of cabinets in a bar unit in my den. Unless the TV is on pretty loud the noise can torture.Let me explain. It has a compressor like most cooling devices which cycles on an off, also like most cooling devices, albeit more often than seems reasonable. Especially considering that it's full and the door has not been opened in days. But the compressor noise is not the annoying part. What is most annoying is a fan that runs at different speeds nearly constantly. For about 10 seconds the room will be quiet. Then the fan starts up, whirring at just the right level to get your attention. 10 seconds later the fan turns off. Then it's back on, then it's off, then it's back on.The only relief from this random fan cycling is the damn compressor which is about 10 times as loud.I have yet to get my granite counter top installed as they just came to make a template today and I certainly hope that with the granite installed the noise gets muffled a bit more. I may even pull the unit out and wrap the top and sides with some noise absorbing material to see if that helps.I certainly hope that the idiot who designed this unit has one in his (or her) den to annoy them as much as it's annoying me.So why did I buy this one you may ask.Well. After careful review of every unit in this size category, I came to the conclusion that a)they were all made in china and b)they were all noisy and c)there were negative reviews of every make and modelSo I went ahead and ordered the least expensive under counter unit. There are other units which are less costly but they do not vent from the front which is a requirement if you are going to stuff it under a counter between two cabinets. Otherwise, it will overheat and burn out.I gave it a 3 star rating because it did arrive well packaged and does work. The other reviews regarding the stainless trim on the shelves were right on -- they used hot melt glue to hold them on and none of mine were still attached.I bought some glue dots that roll with a dispenser, cleaned off the hot melt, put a row of glue dots on the wood and put the metal back on -- it should stay on for the duration this way.The other issue that I had was reversing the handle. The instructions do not mention that the plugs that cover the two holes on the door have to be removed by unscrewing them from the inside. It looks like you can just pry them out but they are actually screwed in. The screw is slotted and you need to use a small flat screwdriver from the inside to turn them out (turn screwdriver to the right from the inside to remove).Oh, and toss the key that comes with the unit -- if you lock it the best that will happen is that someone will damage the door forcing it open. Just leave it unlocked and lose the key!I'm adding this comment after having the unit in my den for a few weeks. I loaded an sound meter app into my phone and when the unit is off, my den reads about 30db which is Very Quiet. When the fan kicks on it jumps up to the upper 30's and when the compressor kicks on it gets into the mid 50's. For reference, 20db is the sound of rustling leaves on a very still/quiet day, 30db is a quiet whisper at 3ft in a library, 40db is a quiet residential area such as a park, 50db is a quiet office and 60db is normal conversation at 3ft. My kitchen's reads in the 40's so if this unit were in a kitchen for instance, it would be much less noticeable.
