I tried cleaning the one already installed in my dishwasher and it helped slightly. Decided to gamble a couple bucks and buy this one. Totally did the trick and everything is clean. A word to the wise: make sure to push the drain button and let it complete its cycle before pulling the dishwasher out. I didn’t the first time and a bunch of water came out. The second time I pulled it out, I drained it first and only a little water came out which a single paper towel was adequate to address.

My Whirlpool dishwasher wasn't heating and was running an hour or two longer than it should have been. I had already replaced the heating element but that did not solve the problems. After more investigation I discovered that perhaps the Turbidity Sensor might be the culprit. I ordered this part and it was delivered in only a couple of days. It was much easier to install than the heating element. I just had to pull out the dishwasher a bit and was able to remove the old sensor without having to disconnect the hoses or turn it over. The sensor is located on the right side of the dishwasher in the lower drain pump area. Just be sure to remove water from the pump drain basin before removing the old sensor or have a towel handy. After installing the new sensor I put the dishwasher through a diagnostics cycle and now it works like new again. Dishes are now drying and run times are back to normal. It worked!
