This is not a cheap paddle, but it is a very well made and enjoyable to use paddle. This will be my third kayak paddle (and second Werner). This paddle is lighter and stiffer than my last Werner, making it a real joy to use. It's fast and light and moves my kayak quickly with less effort from new.I upgraded to a bent shaft paddle as I was experiencing numbness in my wrists and forearms on longer paddles. Adjusting my grip with the bent shaft paddle has completely alleviated the numbness and made paddling fun again. The two halves of the paddle lock together very securely and the offset is very easy to adjust. Everything about this paddle feels solid and durable without being bulky or overly heavy.

I paddled 9 miles and wasn't tired at all. This paddle is so worth the comfort.

Well, after 10 years of using one of our “extra guest” paddles; I finally got one just for me. Im not sure why anyone let me wait that long to improve my experience paddling and to help me understand how big an impact the paddle can make but I can tell you for sure it helped me turn the corner. I’ve gone from a 10 year beginner paddler to a confident intermediate paddler this summer. The only thing that changed was the paddle. It is a bent shaft which certainly helped me feel more in control of my boat and my strokes are much more efficient and effective. I’m no longer arriving late during turns and just missing trees and rocks. I can get my boat to turn more quickly and am able to respond to faster turns when needed on the water. I get it, this paddle is expensive, you aren’t sure it’s worth it. I’m here to tell you; yes it is expensive but it is worth every single cent it costs and then some. Happy Kayaking!

I recently got back into paddling after a long hiatus. I'd been doing rentals for a while and was recently borrowing a friend's ducky with it's included heavy, awkward paddles. Remembering that Werner was one of "the" brands to use; I took a chance and simply ordered this without testing it. (It seems that COVID has created a surge in demand on sporting goods). The first time I took it out with my new dagger kayak I just scored--it was all familiar again. No more arm fatigue after just an hour on the water--I could paddle for a day with this thing. The bent shaft keeps your arms neutral, the weight is phenomenally light and the product is of excellent quality. I just found out that Werner is made in my home state and I'm hoping at some point to visit their HQ when the pandemic is over. Excellent product as always!

My brute of a son broke my 10+ year old Bending Branches paddle that could not be replaced (my fault, I should have taken better care of it) so I went in search of a replacement. Werner paddles kept coming up with great reviews but pricing held me back. Eventually I compromised somewhat and purchased the Camano, a middle of the pack paddle in terms of performance and pricing relative to Werner's other offerings. The reason I bring up my old paddle is that it was a heavy bent-style basswood paddle and as such behaved differently than this much lighter carbon paddle. With the BB paddle a deep strong dig into the water was quite effective at getting speed quickly. With the Camano, things are built for more casual paddling, with easy steady strokes. Rapid acceleration is not really it's thing but long distance leisurely paddling most definitely is, and that's the pace we spend most of our time in anyways. If you like the weight and feel of a heavy paddle, this is not what you want. Although this is a very strong paddle, with absolutely no "give" in its two piece design, it feels delicate. The blades are ultra thin fiberglass (seriously you could cut yourself on these things!) and although very rigid, without the mass, the blades want to "wiggle" a bit in the water on a power stroke. I haven't clocked my best speed with this new paddle, but my sense is that I'm not quite able to get the same speed I used too with the heavier wooden paddle. To go faster in a kayak, you must paddle faster not harder, and there seems to be a "top end" to this paddle where you simply cannot transition from side to side any faster and strengthening your stroke depth and force just doesn't seem to help. But on a long distance run, this paddle excels in comfort and efficiency. I'm very pleased with the purchase despite the high price, and do recommend it for the more serious yakkers out there.
