The WEN DC3401 dust collector is my third WEN product purchase which includes drill press and band saw!Gave the DC3401 a run through ..........very satisfied with this and ALL the WEN products! The tools do what they claim to do, and you get more bang for the buck!! They perform well in my shop as needed. Along with it I purchased the 10' hose and adapter!!!The DC3401 is compact and powerful!!! So glad there is a company I can go to that produces such quality for a fair price. I will be a customer over again ...and just for the record ......I DO remember WEN!!!

Read the fine print ( I didn’t) and you will see the decibel rating is 72 at a distance of 28 feet! Nevertheless it is no louder than my Wen shop vac. I wear ear protection always so I can listen to music from my IPhone thru my hearing aids. Suction is very strong and unit is perfect size for a small spare bedroom DIY shop.

There is controversy on whether these cheap units are better than a shop vac... if you are hesitating because of that, don't. Its much better than a shop vac for dust collection.I will say, that I am not a WEN fan. I have been burned by low quality on a few of their tools, but the price on this dragged me back for more punishment... So far i am pleasantly surprised. The next cheapest comparable dust collection unit was still 50$ more at harbor freight, and any sort of unit that would be an further improvement was 3x the price or more, so i decided to take a chance on it.For roughly the price of a shop vac, this is a much better choice. I went through 3! shop vacs before trying this. Burned up a brand new craftsman, tried a used ridgid that had nowhere near enough suction, and was using my old "filter queen" house vacuum with some success, but needed more airflow, as my hoses kept filling up with dust. This is way better. The suction isn't necessarily impressive, and if it encounters resistance, it wont "push through" like a shopvac might, but it has way better air throughput, which is what you need for dust collection.Manage your expectations, keep your hose runs short, and enjoy. My small shop dust collection system finally works!

Depends upon what you are looking for, but in general it is a good device. Small and compact, for the size of my shop, space is paramount, it doesn’t take up a big amount of space. Good suction and not overly loud. However, I have connected it to a small cyclonic dust collection system using it as the driver. The dust being collected is separated into a separate barrel before it enters the Wen, very little dust passes through the fan on the Wen and into the bag. I believe this has eliminated the clogging that other users have reported. Don’t expect it to suck up every speck of dust and chip, it’s not an industrial grade 10,0000000000 CFM machine that pulls planes out of the sky, but connected properly, it will catch the bulk of your dust. As far as the quality goes, no issues there. Recommend

Many reviewers have mentioned low suction and loud noise, but this has not been my experience. I have a single Wen 3401 unit connected to a disc sander, band saw, table saw, planer, and a 21” floor sweep. I have 50 feet of 2 1/2 inch hose and 20 feet of 4 inch hose, with one 90 degree and three 45 degree bends in my setup. I also added a homemade cyclone from a 32 gallon garbage can. With all of this connected this unit works great!!! Even with all the blast gates open this unit will suck up anything from any location no problem. In fact while using my planer I noticed that my garbage can cyclone had collapsed due to suction. I turned it off, fixed the garbage can, opened all the blast gates at each location, and turned the collector back on. It was still able to collapse the garbage can with 5 open blast gates it was that powerful.Regarding the noise I think it is rather quiet. It is much quieter than my 16 gallon rigid wet dry vac. The sound and volume makes me think of my furnace when I am in my utility room. There is certainly a loud hum present but it is not irritating like a vacuum or high power saw. Most of the sound seems to be more of an air blowing type sound rather than a motor whining sound like vacuums.Overall I was hesitant to purchase this due to other reviewers, but I am very pleased with this collector. I know there are more powerful and better collectors out there, but when this unit can clear 5 locations and collapse my cyclone all simultaneously for only $112, I don’t think you can go wrong getting this collector. The only reason I see to get anything larger would be for a business type shop with huge square footage and long hose lines. But for any home shop this works great. Plus if you do need more power you can just get another one of these small units and place it on the other side of your shop. It is only $224 for two units with 660 CFM each (1320 total) or $0.17/CFM, while a single unit in the next size up is on average $350 for 1500 CFM or $0.23/CFM. So not only do you get more suction for your money but you have the added convenience of placing a whole second dust collector wherever you need one.

I'm writing this review from the point of view that this is a very cheap dust collector. I've only used it a little bit but I feel like I have a handle on how it will perform. The Good:1.)Easy to assemble2.)Does a good job on my small jointer (160mm)3.)Quiet4.)CheapThe Bad:1.)I know the manual warns you not to, but if you don't remove the inlet screen, you might as well throw it in the trash, or buy a super dust deputy to go with it. With the screen in clogged in literally 3 seconds of use.2.)Mine came without casters, bolts, or the clamp for the bag. If I didn't have spare clamps for the 4" hose, I would be in a different emotional state.3.)It did a terrible job on my planer. Which I'll put about 1/3 on the planer, 1/3 on me planing a thick board, and the last third on the dust collector.4.)Bag is a bit of a pain to emptyConsidering the expense, I didn't expect this to perform like a 5hp 7" dust collector. The quality control (missing multiple parts) is abysmal. If it lasts me two years I'll call it a victory. With that said, performance (once the screen is removed) is on par with what should be expected for what you're paying. Also when you open the box you get that mainland china factory smell, if you aren't sure what that is, buy this and you will know.*UpdateThey have already shipped me the missing parts, so good on them for customer service.
