This is a citrus based substance that does clean your brushes, but I'm not sure of the effect it might have on oils and canvasses in the long run. The consistency is also VERY thick, kind of like syrup. Sure it's been years since I painted in oils, but I had always used regular Turpenoid before and this wasn't that pleasant to paint with. I've gone back to using the regular stuff and it works great, but...WOW! I don't recall it ever being this expensive! Time to break out the coffee filters and reuse as much as possible!Pros: Maybe it's healthier and better for the environment.Cons: Consistency is too thick and I don't know how archival it will be on a painting in the long run. Maybe just use it to clean your brushes?

Does what it says it does. Usually I’d use linseed or refined sunflower oil but I wanted to try something different. It smells nice, like lemons but not overwhelming.Just remember to call your local hazardous waste and see the proper process to get rid of it. My state takes extreme precautions for the environment so I usually drop off the used turpentine to them.

It has the lowest toxicity for cleaning up after oil painting but pricey. I would take off a little of the 5th star due to the cost and size of the product.

I think I purchased this in April and it is now October and it's still usable. All the oil paint sinks the bottom of my silicoil like usual, making the turpenoid reusable until it all runs out. I actually don't mind the smell, it is fragrant though!

I am an Artist, TURPENOID can even restore brushes with paint already dried! have sampled several products to clean my paint brushes. Sometimes in Michael's , just trying to save $$.Well made brushes with definition are expensive. RESTORING A BRUSH AS NEW IS COST SAVING TO ARTISTS!Good Quality Oil Paint has fine minerals which hide on the inner threads & stiffen them, TURPENOID is the best most effective , in my opinion.

I was looking for an alternative for my elderly mother who paints all day long. The toxic fumes in turps and even odorless mineral spirits can cause dementia like symptoms. She cleaned what she thought was a perfectly clean brush with this stuff, and it came out even cleaner and really nicely conditioned. She’s happy, and she’s very finicky, so I think this product would pass anyone’s standards. I bought her some spike lavender oil to thin her paint as this is not for that. We’ll see how that goes!
