Product Description

The Watts Non-Potable Water Expansion Tank, with a generous 4.5-gallon volume, is expertly designed for use in both commercial and residential closed loop hydronic heating systems. Its primary function is to control the thermal expansion of hot water, ensuring that system pressure remains below the relief setting of the relief valve and preventing overpressure situations.
Constructed from high-quality carbon steel with a durable epoxy finish, this expansion tank is built to last. The tank features an expansion membrane that effectively minimizes the loss of the air charge, guaranteeing a long and trouble-free operational life for the entire heating system.
The design of this water expansion tank allows for straightforward installation, as it mounts directly to the supply piping. It includes a 1/2" MNPT system connection and a 0.302-32" charging valve connection, which is a standard tire valve, facilitating easy on-site charging and maintenance.
Pre-charged at 12 psi, this expansion tank is ready for immediate integration. With a maximum pressure rating of 60 psi, the Watts Non-Potable Water Expansion Tank is capable of handling significant pressure fluctuations. It works seamlessly in conjunction with hot water heaters to absorb increased water volume, thus preventing system overpressure. This feature not only ensures the safety of the system but also enhances its efficiency and longevity. Whether in a residential or commercial setting, this expansion tank provides a reliable solution for managing the thermal expansion of non-potable water in closed loop hydronic heating systems.

This replaced a 15 year old tank, and the quality appears very good. This is a well known brand, not a cheap copy cat. Precharge was a little high at 14 Ibs, so check and adjust to 12 before installing. Would buy again, but hopefully I won't have to for a long time.

We got our pressure valve fixed and so had to install this to prevent the pressure relief valve from going off on the heater. This was easy to install and has clear instructions: 1: pump to the same pressure as the water pressure 2: install (no need to support it)It's pretty small so make sure to size it appropriately. We have had zero issue and everything is working just fine.

I wasn't sure if this would work, we've had banging pipes for a long time. Well... it absolutely eliminated ALL the banging pipes in my house. We have a front loading washing machine and for 8 years we could tell from anywhere in the house that the washing machine was running. Once I installed this expansion tank, my wife had to go back to the laundry room twice to make sure the washer was actually running. Even I couldn't believe it was working so well. So simple to install but make sure you put enough wraps of teflon tape around the joint. I only put three and had to go back and redo it with 8 to stop a minuscule drip. Also, it can be heavy when half filled with water, make sure you have built a sturdy base. I don't know why they can't weld a bracket to hang these from right on the tank??Highly recommended if you can hear your pipes when the water is moving through the pipes.
