Used for a trailer mounted winch

Installed this on my Can-Am Defender HD8. Took about 5-10 minutes with the aid of "piggy back" connectors. The winch relay is under the front hood, simply change out the connectors that come already attached to this unit with the piggy back spades and you can install this without cutting any factory wiring. The power wires will still use a standard ring type connector. Remotes seem a little cheap, but they work just fine.

I don't know if it's because I use it on my boat and may be the remote control don't like the salty environment but one quit working 3 month after I bought it. The unit works with not problem at all even being on my bilge with is not the best place for electronics. I'm keeping the second remote inside now hoping it won't quit on me. But I still recommend the product. works great.

As others have said, instructions are poorly written, however, easy to figure out how to wire. Would have been 5 stars, but only one of two remotes came operational. No way to get just a replacement remote, so Amazon is sending out whole new kit, and I'll return the original or some variation of (just want two working remotes). But still even with one operational remote, for less than $18 is a great value and worthy of 4 stars. Additionally, the remotes have an on/off switch, so you cannot accidently power winch (unless you forget to turn off), the small key fob style do not.

Make sure and grab some diodes too if using on a dump trailer so it works properly. Great range and super convenient to dump from the back and then lower from the cab.

I spent an hour wiring it and it wouldn't work on my badlands winch. I returned for a refund.

Used it for a dump bed worked great. Just have to remember to cut it off with a switch installed or it will drain the battery.

Overall, the controller works great.Pros:The enclosure is sealedThe wires are of good qualityThe remotes work at a good distanceCons:The remotes use an A23 12v style battery, which is not readily available at every corner convenience mart. I would have preferred AA or AAA batteries.I wish there was a mention in the description or in any of the reviews that this controller operates by completing the output circuit to positive. I suppose this is the normal operation for a controller like this, so maybe it shouldn't have to be mentioned, but it did add an hour or two of head-scratching when I first hooked this thing up and it didn't work. It turned out to be because the controller my winch came with worked the opposite way: the relays had power going to them full time, and that controller would complete to ground. Once I realized this, it was a simple matter of rewiring my relays to have full time ground. Of course, I'm installing this controller because that one was dead, so I had no way of testing it to determine this from that end. Hopefully if someone has a similar situation, this review will save them a little time in troubleshooting.
