From the Manufacturer

Eliminate clogging issues in your personal misting system! With the WS-21 WaterSentinel misting system filter, your system will remain virtually free of the dirt, sediment and scaling that can clog the spray heads in these systems.
Built with a polyphosphate filter designed specifically to attack scale build-up and an activated carbon filter to reduce chlorine odor. The size of a nozzle opening is roughly the thickness of a human hair, and that can easily be clogged with a grain of sand or a granule of rust, that is why it is essential that the nozzles are protected with a 5 Micron sediment Filter.
Filter designed to last one year / season.

This went 1.5 seasons on a 6 emitter cattle mister system I set up for hot TX summers. My 4 pampered pet longhorns loved it. I loved not having to clean emitters except once ever three weeks or so, just to dial em in a bit. I'd run the system for 4 hours an afternoon on 97 degree plus days from May-October. So probably about 35-45% of the days. The good news was I used the same cartridge for half of last year then all season this year. It still worked great all season after winter storage from Oct-May last winter.

my water produces an almost unbelievable amount of scale. I have several misting systems; I decided to try a couple of other calcium inhibitor brands for a better price. One by one they all failed. most of the time they just scaled up or clogged. many times the threads on other brands were defective or did not match for some reason (made for other countries specs?). In the meantime, the system with the Water Sentinel filter kept working, no scale, no clogs. I wasted my money on those trials. Still wish that the price was not so high but I am back.

Great idea to keep the spray nozzles open.

Bought one new from a Big Box hardware store and it never did cut down on the calcium stains on the plants and lawn furniture when the misters were on. This one works a little better, not as much on the stains.

This works very well. I will not use my misters again without this. What a mess before I had this filter. Minerals everywhere! Since I attached this filter it’s not a problem any more. Plus! It’s made in the USA! Yea!

It makes promises that I hope it can keep.....Unfortunately it took a number of re-installs and a lot of professional teflon tape to keep it from leaking around the threads. I gave it 4 stars because I still have hope it will perform and the leaking could have been caused by the "made in china" fittings....

Works fairly well to extend the lifetime of mister nozzles in my very hard water area. Without it, the leaves of cuttings become covered with minerals & mist heads must be cleaned in hot vinegar very frequently--& it's impossible to completely clean them every time, so the hard water eventually ruins them. This typically lasts from spring until fall, when I most need it, before mineral deposits become noticeable again.

Here in Texas we have a lot of phosphates/calcium in the water. I'm running a Cool-N-Save on my AC unit and don't want to foul up the cooling fins in the unit. This works great. In conjunction with a 1 micron whole house filter and the cool-n-save filter I have no residue on my AC unit. These weren't terribly expensive so I'll probably use on on my washing machine cold water line too.
