This size would hold a couple of sandwiches and a banana or flatter objects of similar size such as phones and wallets. There are 2 lock snaps to hold the gasket against the plastic ridge and a metal hinge on the opposite side to keep the pressure on. A small handle on one end has gaps and a hole to string cords or a small carabiner through to secure the box in the boat. There is a locking hole by each latch (lid and base) that something could go through either to secure the latch more or put a small lock through. The top is clear enough to see what's in the box. The closure is either on or off. There is no halfway to keep it closed without compressing the gasket.I'm not too impressed with the oil cleanup at the factory, as each of the circles inside the base from the plastic mold still have dark smudges of oil. There are no real specifications given as to the depth it can take and remain waterproof or the pressure it can endure. Other similar boxes say 3.3 feet (1 meter) and this box doesn't look too different from the others. It would be adequate for splashes or if it fell out of a boat, but I wouldn't drag it down to 10 feet unless tested first. On my other boxes, I fasten a small foam float to the cord in case what's in the box is a bit heavy. The yellow and orange floats also make it easier to spot if floating away. The shape and size makes this a versatile container. I've been using a thicker box for years and it just doesn't store well in the boat. This box fits behind the seat, out of the way.4 stars

I live in Florida along the coast so being on or in the water is just part of life. I needed a new dry box and got this one to be able to do more than keys and phone. I really like the box itself- I've always used the single clasp type before so I was concerned with the two clasps but after yanking and pulling and knocking things against the box in the bathtub, they don't open, and they have tiny holes on the outside if you want to add more security like a zip tie or tiny clasp. This is not the dense weighted plastic of older boxes but I think it is well made. I really felt comfortable with everything in it and dropping it on both pavement and water. It did not crack. This dry box is larger than my other two so I feel the price represents that. Dry boxes are always expensive. I think this one might be a tad too expensive but I'd pay it for the size and security of having it.

I purchased two of these; one for me and one for my boss. We use them as cigar humidors with a Boveda packet and keep them in our work trucks. So far they have been sturdy and airtight.

This dry box is a good size for carrying personal electronics while kayaking or doing other water related activities. I tested it by placing a paper towel inside and then tossing it in the bathtub with the water running over it and then leaving it in there for a few hours to see if any leaks would develop. I'm pleased to report that it remained dry inside and showed no indication of leaks whatsoever.Pros:Good size to store electronics (cell phone, key fob, etc.)Tight seal that prevents leakageComes with a strap to help secure the box which is useful when kayaking, etc.Cons:While it does float when empty, I suspect that it will sink if there are a couple of big cell phones inside. I didn't want to sacrifice my phone in the event that this does occur, but I will be taking the precaution of attaching a floating strap to the box... just in caseThe full price of this box when not on sale is $25.99, which seems a little steep, but I guess if you're going to depend on something like this to keep your valuables dry, it may be worth it.Bottom line: this dry box does what its intended to do, keep things inside dry while in a wet environment. I have no complaints.

Solid storage box that does its job well.. approx. size of pencil box this is best suited for a single user- and any extra room is a bonus! Box fit: cellphone, wallet, keys/key fob and medicine bottle- everything fit while filling up 85% of the space. The thicker gasket stays put with a ridge designed to hold it in place and seal the seam.. The X2 lock hinge system evenly puts pressure onto box to insure its equally shut tight on both sides. Carry strap is helpful to loop thru bungee if used on kayak, paddle board— if tipped, case won’t float away freely! Just be sure not to place extreme pressure onto plastic casing to cause cracking.. so, place wisely in and/or packing with your gear!Do note: listed as water resistant this withstands rain, splash, wash/wipe off.. even a drop into water just fine. Doing water test we put paper towel inside, submerged for x3 min and had 100% dry towel and inside box!! This brings solid confidence it can do its job. Makes a perfect beach option to keep not only water.. but, also sand out of tiniest crack or crevasse we have on our devices!I find the $20 price point is worth the investment to protect a much costlier cellphones, key fobs etc.. Hope info can help decision- stay safe everyone.
