The project overall seamed to be made out of good quality materials and was easy to assemble. But the overall size of the connector for where I was trying to use it would not work for my application.

I finally got the correct size. I have been using a similar connection for my trolling motor plug on my boat but I just have the wires coming through the hull laying on the deck. I don't like the look as I want it to have a more clean look so I have been looking for a mounted connection and here it is. Take note, the reason I said I "finally" got the right size is because I was thinking the amperage did not matter when talking about the physical size of the plug but it does. The 50Amp is not the same physical dimensions as the 100Amp. My bad...but learn from my mistakes. I also like that this on has a cover for when not in use. I don't really think it is going to keep all water out but I feel better about not having it just exposed to the elements.

These ended up being a larger plug than I anticipated but they are super high quality. Would work great in areas exposed to weather being they have a very tight seal.

I got these receptacles to mount on my rear bumper to have a place to plug in my hitch winch. I had thought they were the same as the plugs I have, which are apparently the 250A Anderson plugs and incompatible. So, I'll find a different project to use these for. The plugs and crimp connectors are well made and I'm glad they're made of copper so shouldn't break during crimping onto wires. No heat shrink tubing was included. Mounting screws are included for the cover and the plug. I was surprised on inspection to see that there is no gasket or o-ring on the cover or behind the mounting plate. I'm sure one could apply silicone or cut some foam to make it better seal out moisture, but this wouldn't have been ideal for a bumper mount here by the ocean where it rains. They would prevent some dust and mud intrusion, but not rain or spray. Since it's claimed to be waterproof, this seems not as claimed. Suitable for indoor applications, these would be nice for a battery box or for a plug in your trunk for a refrigerator, air compressor, inverter, or other devices to make them removable. Easier and safer than having to remove wires from bolts or other methods. The price is reasonable and they are good connectors, just make sure they're the right size you want and don't expect the receptacle to withstand outdoor conditions and stay dry.
