My wife bought this a few days ago. We did our research. Is it overpriced? Yes, but there is a reason. Temperature. In order to make a perfect waffle, temps must be around 400-425F consistently. Anything under, is not good, and anything over is not good. Your waffles will not turn out golden brown with a light a fluffy interior. This waffle maker is a no-brainer. Turn it on, set it to 5 on the dial. Wait for the beep, and load your ingredients. Close it, flip it and wait for the beep again, open it up and BOOM, perfect waffle every time. A light coat of cooking spray is all that is needed. And honestly, I have even forgotten the spray a couple of times and the waffles still come right out perfectly. So yeah, there are cheaper models, and Waring knows what they have here so the price is a little high. But, I can tell you first hand, you get what you pay for. You are paying more here but in my opinion it is worth it all the way. The waffle shown in the photo: 3 Eggs, handful of cheese, handful of (pre-cooked) bacon, 1 shredded medium sized potato, 1/4 stick of melted butter, lightly salt, and pepper mix up in a bowl, makes 2 perfect waffles. And 1/2 Shredded onion if you want a more savory taste. Also, don't be afraid to try sour cream on top or even Maple syrup to enhance the sweet & savory of the bacon.

The grille didn't heat up the cord looked different then the model and I didn't feel it was packaged good enough to service the handling there was a dent in it. Nothing bothered me except it just didn't heat up

For a Commercial waffle maker it isn't very heavy. Needs to be heavy to hold temp between uses.
