The reason for the black substance rubbed off from the pot surface.

The layer of black residue adhering to the surface of the pot is carbonization, which occurs when the pot is not properly cleaned after use, allowing oils and food particles to accumulate over time from high-temperature cooking. This phenomenon is related to prolonged exposure to high cooking temperatures, which can produce some black residue. If an iron pot is not wiped dry after cleaning, it may rust. Rust reacts with certain food components, leading to this situation.

Solution:

1. You can use a steel wire ball to scrub off these residues (they can be scrubbed off).

2. Clean the pot thoroughly.

3. After drying, heat it and apply cooking oil to let the oil soak into the entire pot. Repeat this process for about 5 minutes over low heat.

4. Turn off the heat and let it cool naturally.

I've been using this wok for two years, and overall, it has been great. The only minor drawbacks are that the lid is not 100% perfectly sealed and the handle is riveted instead of welded.The main reason I chose this wok was that traditional round-bottomed Chinese iron woks didn’t have enough capacity for my needs.One important thing to note is that this wok does not have a non-stick coating, so proper seasoning and maintenance are essential for the best cooking experience.这个铁锅我已经用了两年,总体表现很好。唯一的小缺点是锅盖不是 100% 严丝合缝,锅把是铆接的而不是焊接的。我选择这个锅的主要原因是传统的纯圆底中式铁锅容量不够,不能满足我的需求。需要注意的是,这款锅没有不粘涂层,所以养锅和日常维护是必不可少的,这样才能保证良好的烹饪体验。

This frying pan is the perfect size and of excellent quality, with beautiful packaging. However, it’s a bit heavy. It seems better suited for gas stoves rather than electric ones, as the base isn’t very wide, making it difficult for electric stoves to heat evenly. That said, this is not an issue with the pan itself.More info: the pan is a little bit heavy

Great for cooking all meal sizes. Heat transfer great. I have an electric stove this works perfectly especially because of the flat bottom. Cleaning wise I can use metal.scrubber without damaging the wok.

The packaging was excellent, keeping the pan, lid, and all the parts secure and well-protected.The pan itself is well-made with a comfortable handle. It feels sturdy without being too heavy.The wok is made of strong carbon steel, which heats up quickly and cooks food evenly. Ca brule dans le fond de la casserole très vite ! Et au bord c'est tiède on peux y mettre les mains. Donc mauvaise répartition de la chaleur, c'est pas adapté à une plaque vitro-céramique ou électrique, il faut je crois l'utiliser sur un réchaud à gaz/propane.

I was so excited to used this wok. First i seasoned it as directed but after 1 used i notice the damage on the wok surface. It’s not no-stick. I tried to clean it up and re-seasoned it again hoping it will works but then after the 2nd usage the wok is really damage. This is not really what they advertised. I really have to return it because this is an expensive one.

I love this wok! the light weight cast iron makes it easy to pick up and handle. The cooking result is fantastic! easy to clean just be sure to oil and follow directions for long lasting use!

The bottom surface is wide enough to work with induction stove tops, gets hot fast. The metal is thick enough to dissipate heat to the sides. With a proper seasoning this wok cleans up well. I think it would be perfect for gas stove. You will get some food sticking with induction but i'm happy with my purchase.

I wanted to have the "full, classic" wok experience, and I more than got it with this. For the premium price, I got a premium experience- the feel of the wok is great, with the engraved wooden handles (the main one of which can be very easily removed and is designed in a way to also lock place VERY securely- the round loop at the end, that's a long screw going into the mount on the wok's base) a month in and I've deep fried, stir fried, stewed in it with great results.The whole process is something I wanted to learn and get comfortable with, and I have with time- after each use I clean it with soap, dry it on medium-low heat on the stove for 5~ minutes, add oil and wipe the cooking surface down and leave it for another 5~ minutes, and it works like a charm.I also really liked the pamphlet which came with it, detailing the history of the manufacturer as well as the various materials and processes through which this was made, and maintenance/seasoning instructions. I went into all of this expecting I'd have to be all extra with the maintenance (and intending to do so), but with trial and error I've found the instructions on the back- which I more or less paraphrased above- gave the best results for me.

Make no mistake--a 14.2" wok is a BIG wok, and that being so, I find this one quite heavy when plating a finished stir-fry and wok-full of food. That said, who wants a flimsy one? This is a WONDERFUL product, made with care, and packaged to reflect exactly that aspect. Once seasoned (which really is no chore), food just slides off it onto a plate or platter. Then bringing it immediately over to the sink, a light scrubbing with a brush while running water over the surface removes any residue quickly and efficiently. Because it is so large (and there are only 2 of us in this house), what I love is that nothing splashes onto the stovetop, and it can handle deep frying as well--plus being carbon steel, it heats to smoking hot very quickly while cooling down equally well when finished. Due to its ample size, I just put it in the cold oven after cooking/cleaning for storage. It helps to apply a thin layer of cooking oil to the surface after washing and drying it. I LOVE THIS PRODUCT.
