  • Check for proper operation with each tune-up and replace when trouble codes indicate failure

A stepper motor is controlled by the onboard computer. The computer moves the pintle in and out of an opening that bypasses the throttle blade. This allows the computer to precisely control idle speed when varying loads are placed on the engine. Symptoms of failure include engine stalling, surging, poor idle conditions, and or a check engine light. Check for proper operation with each tune-up. Replace when trouble codes indicate failure. The idle air control sensor did not function out of the box .idle was stuck at 2000rpm’s and did not go down even after the vehicle was at operating temperature

I was using an SMP standard ignition IAC valve. After I rebuilt the throttle body I was screwing the valve back in and I heard a snap. I thought I broke off the little plunger but in fact the threads broke off inside the throttle body. I barely had it tightened against the gasket so it must have been a defect. Even before it broke it was doing the same thing as the stock unit I replaced so I'm not really sure what was the problem but the truck wouldn't idle properly. After installing this new Walker IAC valve when I started the truck the idle was actually very high. I let it warm up and shut it off for about a minute. After I started it back up the idle was perfect without doing anything.I would highly recommend this brand.

I replaced the old IAC valve with this one. It instantly solved my problems, which were no idle on start-up and very low idle at normal operating temperature. My truck runs really well now. Hopefully it will last a long time. It looks and feels like a quality product.

Only had it on my truck a week or so, seems to work fine, check engine light has not come on, that's a good thing.

My 1995 GMC Sierra slowly began acting almost exactly like it had a fuel filter becoming clogged, but after a complete tune up, including a new fuel filter, after 150K miles, it continued slowly getting worse. I figured it was either the Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve (EGR), the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) or maybe even the Idle Air Control Valve (IACV). After being able to eliminate the EGR Valve (checking it manually opened the valve with my finger while idling and cold), I cleaned the stem of the valve with carb cleaner and realized it had plenty of vacuum to the primary side of the control solenoid and noted it was working properly (while engine cold staying in it's normally closed position). I can say it acted exactly like I've seen a TPS after going bad; however, with a piece of wire, I did jumper the proper two pins on the electrical receptacle, since I don't have a hand-held unit to check the on-board computer for any error codes, so knowing what to jump, I was able to turn on the ignition, press the gas-pedal all the way to the floor to set the TPS for manual read-out, and I was able to count the blinks of the engine failure light on the dash and count three blinks, a pause, and then five blinks, followed by a longer pause before starting over, which told me I had an error code of 35. I googled what error code 35, for my GM engine, was, and noted the code 35 GM Code reflected a bad Idle Air Control Valve (IACV). In summary, I can say it is definitely worth paying a little more for the WALKER IACV, which I ordered and replaced in about 10 minutes. I pulled the negative battery cable off for about 3 to 4 minutes, before putting it back on, to reset the trucks computer. It started right up and after letting it idle for about two minutes, as it began idling at 1200 RPM in park, so I just watched it slowly begin idling down to right at 800 RPM as it began reprogramming the new sensor. Then I turned on my Air Cond while idling, and it almost died, but after about another two minutes it settled back down to right at 800 RPM. I drove it about three miles and after that, it was like starting a new truck--no hesitation during acceleration, and idling smoothly! I'm confident this WALKER valve is clearly worth the few extra $ because every time, they work like a champ!! Hope this helps someone else. (Saved $65.00 over Auto Zones price on the exact same sensor too!)

This item did come with a washer, others said it didn't.It looks to be better quality than the AC Delco, which looks plastic. If you install this item you NEED to drive over 35 for 30 minutes to allow the computer to adjust the air volume. It may run like crap at first.Do not overtighten.Do not use the old plug if the clip is broken, splice in a new clip. Do use dielectric grease, inside and on the weather pack material.Walker does sell this same item with a new plug. If you are messing with a 20 or 30 year old car you can almost assume due to the engine bay hear over the motor and the age that your clip is broken or you will break it.Do not try cleaning your old one. It isn't worth it. Almost all chemicals are destructive to it due to the fact its is a moving machine in the valve. For reference I have a 1900 Gmc sierra 350 5.7 Throttle Body assembly type motor

I tried two other brands and had sluggish performance out of one and stalling out of the other. This one has saved the day for me. I was beginning to think, I would have to take the truck to a garage because, I couldn't get it running right. I decided to try one more time first and the problem is finally solved. I'll defiantly be keeping Walker in mind for other auto parts as needed.

Part broke right away. Zero pressure, could undo thread with my fingers. Was in almost all the way and broke thread off, wasn’t cross threaded either. I’m not an idiot, should have bought local instead of online. Package can not be returned if opened.that what it said on the sealed package in the IAC box.

Usually I buy Ac Delco, but this fixed my idle issue I. My 1994 C1500 runs excellent again. Make sure to disconnect the battery don’t over tighten and spray some silicone spray into the TBI port the computer needs to reset after replacing the IAC it will misfire a couple of times after install so drive it a for 30 minutes and this problem will go away. The forums on these trucks really helped explain what I’ve just said. 400 miles and runs awesome I would buy again:)
