An engine coolant temperature sender measures coolant temperature. It does this through changing resistance and sends this information to the onboard computer. The computer uses this and other inputs to calculate the correct amount of fuel delivered. Symptoms of failure include no start, engine flooding, steady check engine light and/or poor fuel economy. Recommended service should be performed every 25,000 to 35,000 miles and consists of cleaning or replacing sensors that are non-functional.

Installed to replace the faulty one in car. The engine temperature indicator raised higher than normal. Looked like engine over heating. Decided to return it.

This does not work at all. And it's super weak and it broke when taking it out to return it. Went to a Pink-N-Pull and found an old one and that fixed my problem.

This sensor is the appropriate fit for my 1999 CAMRY LE, and this was confirmed at the time of ordering. After installing the product, the temperature gauge on the dashboard showed immediately "overheating", while the actual coolant temperature was in the healthy green range! I replaced with yet another manufacturer's sensor and the "problem" was fixed. The bad experience here is that I cannot return the faulty sensor, because the sealed plastic bag it was delivered in stated that returns are not permitted once opened. That looks like a cheap trick to sell a product that might have a high rate of failure. After this experience, I have to advise against this item.

Do not buy this- you’ll waste your time. The brass tip is slightly larger in diameter than the OEM Toyota sensor. The fit when inserting OEM sensor into coolant hole is VERY snug. Due to this walker being a larger diameter than OEM, it does not fit and will not sink enough into hole to get threads started. Total waste of time, as you have to drain coolant to change this. Spend a little more and get the Toyota sensor.
