Amended my clay soil after one time. My mom spent years getting her garden fertile and this stuff made all our beds perfect the first year.

Love this brand bc it's the most economical brand I've seen. Idk how well it really works in the garden but I've heard of its garden benefits so I'm using to help amend my poor soil quality and it my potted plants. My garden is thriving overall despite the harsh conditions of gardening in the desert. I recommend this product and a bag goes a long way.

It was super easy to evenly spread . I added after having my yard aerated. I also added some extra in areas when seeding bare areas. One year on, my lawn is looking healthier without any changes in our watering amounts (controlled with a Rachio irrigation controller). There is still a troublesome zone in my yard where the soil was extremely dense clay, I used a spade fork to break up the top layers of soil and added some additional Wakefield Biochar before adding sod.We also mixed it in with our newly planted flowers, and they are flourishing an area which was previously bare.

Clean and easy to use. I’m no scientist so I can’t speak to the other reviews on composition and whatnot but I’m happy with the results on my plants and I just received my second order. Saves a lot of watering and keeps gnats and other pests away from my plants indoor and out. Mission accomplished.

Fine particulate with no powder or dust so very nice! Price very reasonable compared to others. Just added charged stuff to my soil for transplants so will see how it goes.I live in high desert so hot, dry, sandy, poor soil. Hope it helps for long term soil benefits.

***UPDATE***Don’t order two bags at a time. I made that mistake and the package arrived with biochar loose in the box. It won’t make the shipping journey safely. But I do like the seller’s customer service in resolving the issue. Very prompt, and cordial service.- Great thick plastic packaging- NOT hydrophobic, soaked up my charging tea very well- Fluffy, so when I added to bucket to charge it, the air left and the volume of the bucket decreased a lot. Makes it hard to gauge how much biochar you're using- Nice, consistent grain size. I wasn't able to find any bigger chunks in the char. Maybe one.- Since it's slightly damp, no dust gets kicked up when pouring outI will most likely buy two more bags to lessen the smell in my quail hutches. This is mostly for my garden as an amendment. Be SURE to charge (inoculate) your biochar BEFORE applying it to your garden, as biochar makers and users have said that your garden will suffer for the first year. But at season 2 and on, you should see the benefits.I like that Wakefield uses scrap wood that would have been headed for the landfill. I like biochar for carbon sequestration (I'm a hippy like that). I'm a firm believer in how biochar works to house soil critters and protects them from getting washed out of the soil. You can't go wrong if char is a proven amendment ie. terra preta.

Very small uniform charcoal not from coal. The pride and care in their product shows in that the box comes standard, but prepositions to securely carry with it handles. Inside is packed with a sealed plastic bag and easy to deal with. I use it with coconut fiber, worm castings, a bit of Azomonite and a bit of organic food for bacteria. This is the special sauce I add to re-potting, replanting, and to baby special plants. I live in the high plane desert and my plants need extra attention and love so I don't have to water them as much. This mixes exceptionally well, retains moisture, adds organic matter and helps to create a soft loam in our hard dirt. This is the best price I have found, and this is a reorder from me.

Good quality, with small particle size, which should make it particularly good to use as a soil amendment. I've been using it not as a soil amendment, but as part of a deep litter system in a pig pen. Its ability to limit odor is unbelievable; I've used less than a quarter of the box in the pig pen over the last month with four pigs whose enthusiasm for eating is matched only by the volume of their pooping. Between the straw, biochar, and bacterial innoculation, there is virtually no odor, and the biochar will help make the used bedding/manure mix an even more spectacular addition to our farm next year.
