They'll work, they are strong, and will probably last a while, but they will annoy you. If you look at the photo I posted, which is a screen grab from the ones here on Amazon, you can see the manufacturer molded a pattern on outside of the jaws. The pattern SHOULD have been molded on the handles because they will slip in your hand when you try to compress them. Also, the orange pads on the jaws are very loose and have a tendency to flip in the opposite direction from what would be helpful for gripping whatever you are trying to clamp.

I have a set of larger clamps from 2 1/2" to 6". I knew the quality, their not for furniture building unless the furniture is for a dollhouse. These are great for making railings, clamping dry fit pieces in place, etc;. They're one of those things you never have enough of and have to wait until something dries overnight to build its twin. I do now and if one breaks, so what it's only 33 cents and chances are I tried to do something it wasn't made for. Like clamping something beveled. The 6" ones I was shown in use holding a quilt on a stretcher. The 6" metal ones are too strong a gripp for that!

Clamps used to secure garden netting. After 2 months of outdoor exposure, clamps started falling off.Upon inspection found that orange nose pads had come off, and that clamps opened up due to failing spring tension. Clamp springs rusted to such a severe state there was no longer enough tension to keep clamps closed. I do not live close to ocean, so salt in the air was not the cause of rust. Only conclusion is that metal quality of spring is very poor and conducive to rust. Would not recommend for outdoor use. Keep clamps dry and away from water. Didn't work for me. For outdoor use try stainless steel clamps "with" stainless steel springs. Not all stainless steel clamps have stainless steel springs, so verify first.

Perfect little clip that you wonder how you did without. Just seem to come up with different ways and places to use. The swivel ends seem to come off easy, but you can still use them.

5 of the 6 are perfect, one looks like it did not have a complete molding and was overlooked by the quality team. These are pretty sturdy but not heavy duty. The clamps apply enough pressure to hold large backdrops in place. We use them for muslin, plastic, paper and polyester backdrops. The one flawed clamp was not enough to send the others back. The price was so good, I just ordered another set. - can't have too many clamps!

As others have said, the plastic tips come off if you just breathe on them (well, you know). But for my purposes, the clamps work better without the tips. I need good, focused, intense holding power for raised beds and the greenhouse. These are fine.In a stiff wind, they will not hold the plastic of the greenhouse on to the wood frame, but not sure what clamp would!
