When I ordered this fixture, the photo showed that it had the correct configuration of the prongs that went into the track. When it arrived, it had 2, rather than 3 prongs. The fixture said it was for L track, so I tried it anyway. It did not fit. If you are looking for an L track fixture, do not purchase this one, as it does not fit.

This works well with my system for lighting artworks. Small and unobtrusive.

You have to bend the contacts down, so they catch the conductors inside the track. These WAC track light heads did not work until I figured out this issue. Not even the WAC tech service people knew to recommending bending/deflecting the tongs down a little so they had a better chance of making electrical contact.

I was trying to by replacement heads for my H Series Track Lighting System, and over the years, it appears the the Connection base for these heads, whether I got the HHT - 808 heads or these 809 heads - is larger than the previous base connectors (that rectangular section that you place into the track). I was worried about these because the light is not recessed into the head a little bit like my original 808 heads, and I was trying to save a little $ by buying 5 matching replacement heads! I could have purchased what the WAC company does have for their 808 series, but I saw that these are interchangeable, and I bought 5 of these - they both used the typical 50 Watt Halogen bulb. My H-Track lighting strip actually is able to take 6 lamps, but when my first head broke, I just got used to using 5, which were more than enough! They get very, very hot - however, I did not realize that I can used LED replacement light bulbs, as long as the prong pins are the same and that may keep the heat from causing the track strip and the ceiling from turning a little “brown!” THIS TRACK HEAD actually has a better “mesh-style” venting area at the end of the light build holder which should help with the heat build up. It took about a day to just get used to the fact that the light bulb is flush with the edge of the lamp head, so it will be a bit blinding until you get the angle adjusted just right. They are fine, now. I will say that they require a little more patience when replacing a single bulb, because the older model allowed for me to just “pop out” the front of the light head and disconnect the bulb to replace; these require you to push the circular wire on the front of the lamp head which actually holds the glass circle and bulb in place so that it will slide out for you to unpin it. It’s not hard to get used to, but you just want to be careful that you don’t drop the wire if you are standing on step ladder. Also, there is probably no need to have the extra glass piece in the lamp head if the replacement bulb has its own glass circular cover; I never used them in past, but I wondered if having both glass circles would also help on the heat and glare? I don’t think it is making a difference. I should just ask an electrician. LOL!!

Exact match to our 4 light track which is 15 years old. Just added one more to make it 5. Works perfectly!

Got 3 of these for a track light in my kitchen and they are great. You can get light bulbs that are spot lights (which I am using for over the sink & stove) or ones that are more diffuse (which I am using for my counter space.) The design is sleek and contemporary. I looked at all the choices in my favorite lighting store in Berkeley and liked these the best. I would have paid more and bought them there (I'm willing to pay for customer service!) but they didn't have them in stock and told me it would take months to get them.

I tested this with 2 different brands of known-working LED MR16 bulbs and this JHT-809-WT didn't light either of them. I suppose the fixture could just be broken, but my guess is that it only works with Halogen MR16's and not LEDs. Note that WAC also makes the JHT-809LED-WT which I also own and which DOES work with both of the aforementioned bulbs. The JHT-809LED-WT comes with an LED bulb, in fact, but it currently costs $26 more. I was hoping I could buy the JHT-809-WT and an $8 LED MR16 and safe some money as well as getting a brighter bulb. Nope. I'm still giving 3 stars because it is an attractive and affordable fixture which should work for people who like to waste electricity with halogen bulbs :).
