There are so many ways to use a gel plate and I have only just begun to explore them. I'm learning the basics - putting down layers of acrylic paint, making marks then pulling prints. I did start using some of my stencils with the plate which takes the art to a while new level for me. There are many more techniques that I haven't even tried yet but I can say this: the gel plate will give me many hours of creative time to come in the future. I can always appreciate a tool in my craft room that keeps me learning and creating for hours and hours and literally getting lost in the fun.I've never had a gel plate before so I have nothing to compare it to but the plate seems to be fairly robust and holds up to being handled during washings in the sink, etc.This is a big plate to learn on. I think as a beginner I might have started with a smaller plate but on the other hand I do love this size because it fills an entire piece of copy paper (almost). If I had started on a smaller plate I would have wanted this bigger one almost right away.Highly recommended.

These gel plates ar very smooth and there are no flaws or imperfections on it so I get a nice clean print when I pull it. Paint hairs to it very well. I do get a nice clean pull sometimes I can get a double pull off of it. It is easy to clean and it has stood up to dozens of printing so far. I do wrap mine in plastic wrap after I’m done with it so it does not dry out and become brittle. They are easy to use. The size is very functional for doing cards or smaller projects or large full sheets. It is a nice size so I can get nice size prints off of it. It is well worth the money for the quality of this gel plate.

This works well and is a great alternative platform for painting. Kids love to roll paint which is a fun and creative way to make cards and pictures.

Wife and kiddos liked this, good and creative fun to be had for some home-schoolers. Makes a nice addition to your art supplies and crafts that the kids can make and have some fun doing it.Easy to use, no downside found.Recommended.

I am an experienced gel-plate user, having used a well-known brand for several years, and this is easily comparable. The plate is protected by heavy acrylic sheets and comes with a plastic box for storage. The instructions are comprehensive for a beginner.I tested the plate using acrylic paint, and it feels and looks no different than the more expensive brand I'm used to. I'm happy to have this more convenient size in my art stash and recommend it as a great bargain.

I have always used actual brand name Gelli Plates before, adn I wasn't certain how this would compare. Functionally, these are the same. The Vollence brand surprised me by actually being thicker than my Gelli plates of the same size. The price point is definitely less than its brand name couterpart.This a good deal for any artist or student.

I wanted this after seeing videos showing how you can transfer pictures from magazines onto other things. The way this works is you use acrylic paint and a roller, then stick something for it to transfer on it, it will "transfer" onto the gel plate but I think in reality the paint somehow picks up the picture. Then you roll another color onto it and transfer it to another medium.The whole process sounds complex but it's actually super simple and this gel plate works really well! This is my first gel plate, so I can't exactly compare, but looking online it's exactly the same as all the other brands. They're frequently made from proprietary polymer gels, so it's hard to truly compare things like shore hardness or anything. From what I've seen in videos and descriptions of what it's supposed to feel like, this matches the descriptions.You aren't limited to just pictures from magazines either, you can use all sorts of things! The final image results in a mixed media punk pop-art grungy vibe. It's really really cool.I would not hesitate to recommend this for people who want to try this art medium. Just be sure to have a roller, the coats of paint need to be extremely thin and smooth.
