35 minute easy instruction assembly, high quality materials, large + convenient capacity, and extra parts included just in case. I would recommend using some sort of brick weight or partially burying the base to support the turning momentum. The mole gloves are also adorable.

All the vegetable scraps no longer go to the trash but in the tumbler.I put it on my side terrace (second floor apartment). I first poured in some soil and then began adding in the scraps. I tumbled the mix every day and in a matter of days, it turns into "pellets" that look like goat manure. I'm not sure what chemistry happens under full sun and rain, but WOW. It doesn't smell and I've had no problems with bugs. I use the nutrient-rich compost mix in my small urban garden (containers). Now, the assembly. It is time-consuming. It took my teenage son about 2 hours with little assistance. Once properly assembled (make sure ALL screws are in!) it is sturdy and takes in lots of scraps. It becomes somewhat heavy as it gets more stuff in, and when tumbling, it's perfect for upper body and arm exersize!I love the dual chamber feature. I am doing the recommended one side collecting leaves to dry out (and become base for next composting cycle) and the other to collect the vegetable scraps.I'm pleased with the results and think it's worth the money!

Easy to assemble by one person. Has some weight to it when assembled. Great quality and no smell when near it. Holds a lot, easy to turn. No spillage and a lot of capacity.

Love that this was fairly easy for me to put together (lots of parts!) and put into place in my yard. The orange doors fade a little if in the sun, but it doesn't affect their function. Like the little "+" sign to help you remember which side to add to and leave the other alone to do its thing. The gloves that come with it are useful but they get sticky after a few uses and were a tad big on my little hands - the liners are helpful. This unit is also helpful in that it keeps critters out of your compost because of it's enclosed design.

I haven’t used this yet, but I’m writing regarding the assembly. It was the biggest pain of anything I’ve ever had to put together. Sooooo many screws and nuts to put the eight panels and two end pieces together. And you better have loooooong arms because you’ll have to reach across the diameter of the bin from the inside to attach some of the back screws. Also, for the door panel the directions say there are two pieces and they come pre-reassembled. It doesn’t, it’s just one piece, so that was confusing. This composter comes in a 40 gallon bin or a double 20 gallon bin. You’ll get a 40 gallon bin with a divider that makes it into two 20 gallon bins. The are two doors for this purpose. I think the purpose of two 20 gallon bins is so you can start one bin, then later start the other bin and just keep rotating the two bins and always have compost. The problem is that the divider is a piece of crap. It nowhere comes near to fitting inside the composter. The directions even say there may be gaps. Gaps? It just doesn’t fit, so I threw it away and will use it as a single 40 gallon bin. Disappointed bc of that, but you won’t know this til you’re over half way through putting the million screws in and I wasn’t about to take it apart so I could return it. It might help if you have a second person to help with holding pieces in place while you attached the million screws and nuts. Had I known all this, I would have gone to a brick and mortar store and bought one already assembled. It was such a pain.

This was easy to assemble and it seems to be good quality so far. The composting capacity is fine for a homesteading family on a small scale which is what we are. It's easy to move when empty so you could assemble it then pick it up and move it wherever you need to before filling it. The 2 chambers is nice to have. Just take note the divider doesn't line up perfectly inside the center groove. It seems like it will stay in place but that part of the assembly is a little off.

Hundreds of little screws to put it together! No handle, so you must push it away from you to turn it. Not impossible, but heavier than you'd think! Two compartments to hold the compost - not as big as I thought they'd be - hopefully the compost will turn into black gold quickly - we have LOTS of veg scraps! LOL

First, the pros:1) Extra screws and nuts were provided. This is rare nowadays, but this came with 4 extra sets of screws and nuts and 2 extra center pipe end caps2) The nuts are self-tightening: you only have to get them started a few turns then you can screw the screws from the outside (with the included Philips screwdriver) and they will tighten without having to hold the nut with your finger or a wrench. This is key since it is hard at times to wrap your arm inside of the bin to hold the nut while tightening the screw from the outside.3) Thickness of the plastic is pretty good for what this is. It presents as fairly sturdy when assembled.4) Large size. I got the 43 gallon model and I can tell it will hold a lot of compost.5) The tumbler rotates smoothly and easily.6) The legs are sturdy and easy to assemble. Now the cons:1) not that easy to assemble. I'm 60 years old. I've been around the Ikea block several times. I've assembled huge pergolas and gazebos and carts and sheds and all varieties of machines and devices. I have every tool. I can do plumbing and electrical work, carpentry, both rough and finish, drywall, irrigation, tile and marble. I've done it all. But this wasn't that easy to assemble. The worst part was thinking the center divider should fit nicely into the center grooved channel that goes around the inside perimeter of the tumbler, when it doesn't even come close. I think the manufacturer said, "let's use one center divider for all the different tumblers we make, fit be darned." I spent more time trying to make the center divider panel fit than assembling the rest of the unit. Check out my pictures to see how poorly it fits. I tried flipping it over, rotating the divider every which way, but nope, didn't happen.2) You have to work your way around the tumbler, adding one panel at a time. It was difficult at times to hold the panels in place while I was screwing them together. There are these raised, stubby posts that are supposed to snap into holes on the adjacent panels and many times the snap was not as snappy as it should have been. Some of the connections seemed a little loose but upon completion, the sides seem to have pulled together as a team and the weight of the compost may push the edges out enough so that those posts snug up against the holes.Summary: I believe this was worth the price and it will function well for several years.
