Classic strobe - works for all the tricks, including inducing the wagon wheel illusion on a rotating object (eg fan blades), for producing the “time fountain) illusion on a running tap, etc.

Unlike LED strobe lights this is a classic Xenon flash tube. The short flash duration will stop moving objects (fans, people jumping around, dripping water, etc.) I've yet to find an LED strobe that will do this. My only complaint is that the flash brightness is fairly weak. Using it for a Halloween display it was easily overpowered by other lights around it. Still, if you want a strobe light for stopping motion, this will work better than an LED strobe. Can't speak to the longevity of the device as I have only had it a couple weeks.

I really can't complain much about this product. It was only 11 bucks, and it works as advertised. Do not expect nightclub/stage/Prof DJ quality from this, but again.... look at the price! It does the job it was designed to do.It is neither very bright nor will it cover a large area unless it is pitch dark - but again, it's very inexpensive! It certainly can't keep u with $60-100 strobes, but that's not the market for this device! This is for your small venue, small party, holiday special effects applications. It is NOT waterproof, so do not plan on leaving it outside as a decoration. I used it for a birthday party with mixed success.PROS: It does have an on-off rotary switch which also works as a flash-rate control. It flashes from a slow pace to moderately fast. One thing I was extremely surprised about (which I never expected at this price) is that on my model the Xenon Flash Tube is a plug-in rather than soldered in. The previous one I owned had a flash tube which was not designed to be user replaceable (had to be un-soldered and the replacement soldered). This unit will be much easier to replace the tube!At the price they're asking for this device, it is a no-brainer for using at an occasional party.

I really like the brightness of the light and the adjustability of the strobe speed. I got it to shoot a "Rock Video" and the strobe speed can be adjusted to the exact beat of the music. Some strobes only give you three of five strobe speeds and this strobe has a knob control that increases the strobe rate gradually to the desired speed you want. Great for videographers and dance troops!

Sorry as I hate giving negative reviews, but I bought this new from G.C. for around 30$ and it has a terrible malfunction. Plug it in, blinks once, then nothing. Repeat process, no blink at all! Wait a day, use different outlet, may blink once, then nothing. Pretty simple instructions, and turning the dial does nothing. So, I was sold a damaged/used unit, or a bad apple from the batch! These things happen, but it is an hour drive back to the store and I'm not happy at all. Check the strobe before buying it as it may be extremely fragile. I hope I am wrong, and that it is an isolated circumstance, but one review stated a similar mishap of having 2 hours of operation and then nothing! Maybe this model is tainted, maybe I'm unlucky, but happy.... No! In box everything looked and smelled new, bulb works obviously, but styrofoam was mangled...??? If the replacement works perfect I will renew this review!

This strobe light is fun to use. it will fill up a medium sized room with light and has a number of speeds.it comes with number of colored films to place in front of the light to let you change the color of the light. These were not very effective so I got rid of them.
