Cheap vise grip. Good for small jobs. Not string at all,The rubber pieces are kind of weird. Are sticky and with some sort of oil or something on the. My guess is degraded rubber, old.

"Vice grip clamps"??? This is a "Mini work bench vice", nothing more. It is PERFECT! I use it frequently. I attached it to my bench once, and it hasn't slipped or loosened at all. That goes for the upper vice too, whether sawing, grinding or using adhesive, it holds smaller parts very securely. It's tough, versatile and made with quality.

This is a great solution. It grips a table edge well and allows the use of both hands for the project. Clamps tightly. I used it for gripping very stiff stainless steel wire while I torched the wire and bent it to form. Made a difficult job easy.

Don't do vise stuff with this clamp. It's very small and very light.

I have worked around tools most of my life and I have had bench vices in the past but they were the type that had to be bolted to the working surface. This is the first clamp on device that I've owned and truthfully I was a bit leery going into this purchase but now that I have used it a couple of times I feel very good about the purchase. It clamps on very solidly, it will loosen and rotate to the optimal working position and then lock down very tightly so that it's very stable. This vice seems to be very well made and it has been a pleasure to work with it. If you're looking for a vice this size I would suggest that you get this one. 🤓
