Strings went on easy with usual amounts of tuning, slightly tinny but good. Still a beginner though so my opinion should weigh very little.

The gauge of these strings was significantly lighter than the ones I was replacing. I am not a violist so I was not sure if they were the correct strings or not. I returned them without replacement. I still have the old strings on my viola.

I wouldn’t use these strings when preforming with the symphony as the tone is a bit muted but for every day practice they sound spot on and good clarity!

Well, we inherited a viola from Uncle Bob. Uncle Bob was an amazing guy, a machinist from upstate New York who settled down in So. Louisiana after WWII. When he was young, he got so interested in violins that he checked a book out of a library about how to make one. And he did! In fact he made several violins and a few violas as well. One ended up being played by a member of the New Orleans Philharmonic.So, do any of us play the viola? Noooo. Do any of us know ANYTHING about playing a viola? NOPE! But we got these nice strings at a reasonable price and now one of us is...well, producing sounds from the viola. I wouldn’t go so far as to call it music, but it’s a step up from the stringless viola. Oh, and for you other viola newbies — buy rosin. No rosin, no sound.But srsly, folks, these strings showed up promptly, well-packed, and were pretty easy to install with a little help from Google. I’m actually hearing a few musical notes from the other person in the house who’s playing with the viola. I would happily purchase these strings again if needed.
