I was not happy at all with my product. I ordered 1 before this for my husband and it was amazing. He absolutely loved it, so I ordered another one and upon removal from the package I got stabbed with a nail from the product, the product was not put together very well at alland is coming apart, the lid doesn't close at all, I will never order from this company again.

This is a very low quality, cheap construction. Very light duty or for mostly decorative use.As others have said, it does have an overall sprayed on color finish right over the brass hardware as well. I used a cotton ball soaked in alcohol and easily cleaned it off the brass accents.Mine also did not sit level and wobbled. I had to sand one corner of the base down to get it to sit level on a table.I used mine to store some large chess pieces so it good enough for that purpose, and I like that the inside has a very thin, glued in fabric liner to offer minimal protection from scratching against the raw wood inside.All in all it does the job, but it think it’s a bit overpriced for the level of quality it is. For $40 I wouldn’t expect to have to clean up and sand or refinish anything.

I absolutely love this chest! It was the most perfect and nerdy thing to use for my D&D dice. The only issue was that the varnish was coming off, but I just went to Joann’s and got some spray matte finish. A couple of coats and it’s perfect! Highly recommend to everybody! (The padlock in the picture was a separate order and does not come with the chest.)

Very attractive box bought as a special present. I was reluctant to part with it so I was glad that the recipient was very pleased with it. The box was of a standard that I would expect, but the detail was better than expected. I hope i get one for my birthday!

Bought it as a gift for a storage bin for D & D paraphernalia, dice, figurines, etc.... The boy loved it. Not the most rugged (ie: not oak plank) but sturdy enough and has that very groovy medieval look that would make any Dungeon Master proud.

For the price it was okay. When it arrived it looked liked someone spray painted the whole thing black, over the leather and brass parts. I bought some steel wool and cleaned and distressed it and it ended up looking pretty good. Very flimsy wood, just treat it delicately.

Cute treasure chest which was purchased for a trade show. Good size for tradeshow table - not too big, but big enough for attendees to see as they were approaching our table.

Oh my goodness, this is just so beautiful. It is smaller than I expected, because my measurements assumed inside dimentions, not outside, which of course makes no sense and is my fault.The item that arrived is just gorgeous, and has a little clasp on the front. The level of detail exceeds the photos - the photos are good, but the dark on dark subject matter means they miss some of the fine detail you actually have on this.I frankly just wanted a Pirate-y container for the "real" items and part of my craft project. now this has become the star of it all!This has what i call excellent "intangibles" - the lid just opens smoothly, rests well, seals well, carries and travels well, etc. I recently bought some boxes for office storage and the lids were a pain to open, needed one hand just to prevent it from snapping off from its own weight, etc. this has no such flaws or quirks.
