Buyer beware! I would give this more stars except for the fact it is exactly, and I mean exactly the very same book as Arts & Crafts Needlepoint by the same author. I'm talking word for word, page by page, project by project. The only difference is the title and cover. So I guess if I had been able to see the table of contents for both books I could have know it was the same. But wouldn't you know, only Arts & Crafts Needlepoint allowed you to see the table of contents. Kind of makes you wonder if that was on purpose! The only thing I can do now is try and find someone to give the other book to.All that being said, do buy one of them as the projects are very well done as well as some history on William Morris and the arts and crafts movement.

Awesome book, not exactly what I hoped but don't know what I'm looking for either. I did a few free drawn needlepoint when younger when I could still see and my hands weren't all arthritic, This book has stressed to me why a frame is a real good idea to work on.

I was surprised with this book. It is from England and signed by the author! It has great designs and good color photos. A real keeper!

well written and copiously illustrated, including charts for key designs. the author explains the derivation of each design and her own interpretations of each. practical tips for tackling similar projects are also very useful and apply to many other projects not just those in the book

I after an exhausting search for prefinished needlepoint canvases to recover my dining chairs, I was resigned to having to make my own. I wanted a vintage-feel that reminds me of my great-grandmothers home (she was born in the turn of the century). Beth Russells expert blending of colors in her work make these "masterpieces in wool". Not like some of the cartoony looking cross stitch patterns that are a dime-a-dozen these days. Just gorgeous floral, acanthus leaves and bird patterns--many replicating fabrics designed by William Morris. There is plenty of instruction given, so even a dedicated beginner could produce hierloom quality projects. Designs are appropriate for making pitcures for walls and photos to inspire uses for home decor (pillows and chair covers). The designs lend themselves equally well for working in counted cross stitch. I am not disappointed!

Beth Russell consistently produces charted needlepoint designs for those of us who like to produce our own creations. It is easy to follow her charts and even take several deslgns and combine them. For someone with little talent for drawing, but the desire for more original needlepoint designs, all of her books are great.
