Only pro is that it does fold down to a very compact size. The cons are a tiny reel that takes forever to load or rewind and nothing to capture the loose line when fully rewound, so it spills out all over the inside of the housing during transport. Bought three, will use as backup, won’t buy more.

The plastic cracked the first day. Whole thing feels cheaply made.

It's nice these tipups fold up and save all the tangle messes. I've used many style tip ups and these are similar to the flat Frabil style tipup. The spool locks in the downward position unlike the Frabil or other styles which is nice. If they were selling for 25-30 each I would get more.

Used them for the first time yesterday. Set out three of these along with 9 other tip ups by various other brands. Chased flags all day, over 25 flags spread pretty evenly across the set. These worked as well as I could have hoped, no issues at all. Picking them up went great and it was a lot easier putting them away and not having to worry about where the treble hooks were or them getting tangled. Time will tell how well they hold up in the long run but I love them so far.

I've been an avid ice fisherman for over 30 years and I've been using all manners of tip ups from manufacturers like HT, Beaver Dam and Frabill for that entire time for walleye and pike fishing. This is definitely the first tip up with this design that I've used. You unfold the entire thing, flip up the flag all the way to the top from the bottom and lock it in place and you're good to go. It's actually a pretty slick design from the standpoint of being able to keep your hooks enclosed in the tip up while you're transporting it so they don't get tangled or caught on anything else. It will definitely work well and I'll be putting it through its paces this winter. With that said, there are a couple downsides here too. The plastic doesn't perfectly line up and it's a little clunky to open and close. Not a deal breaker by any means, but for a tip up with this price tag I would expect the finish to be a little better. Which leads me to the price - it's very high for what it is. You can get thermal (the round kind) tip ups for like 20 bucks or the premium wooden beaver dam tip ups for less than the price of this one. This is cool and different, but I'm not sure I could justify the price tag, personally. Lastly, I don't love the flag. It has only one little piece that you can extract and there's no way to make it bigger or more visible. It's simply too small. If they would have just made the telescopic metal pole that the flag is on 3 pieces so it could reach maybe 6 inches higher it would be way better. This can be the difference between being able to see your flag over a snow mound or not.Ultimately this is a cool design and will be best used if you don't need to be very far away from your tip up while using it. If the price was half of what it is, I'd consider buying more.
