Bought this for my grandson who is studying to be a blacksmith? He has been very pleased with it. It comes in handy.

I have no blacksmith training and am a hobbyist in need so take this for what it is worth.1st star: It is an anvil. Check2nd star: It is made of metal. CheckHere endeth the positive comments. My principal complaint is two-fold. First, that the horn of the anvil is not the shape or texture shown in the photo, which is why I purchased this particular anvil. Second, the horn has either been damaged in shipping (this was shipped in a flimsy cardboard box, no packing material at all) or it was poorly made as there are what look like chips taken out of the horn that have been painted over. (And as an aside, the Vevor logo is not painted on the anvil as it was shown in the photo.)The working surface of the anvil is smooth and seems quality—other than the area at the edge which seem to have defects that have seen the working end of a grinding wheel. All in all, I am disappointed. Reading the other reviews, which I should have done earlier, I guess the manufacturer calculates you won’t make the effort to return the product. I won’t so I guess they are correct. In closing, I would caution anyone considering this product to remember: you get what you pay for.

I sometimes do light metal work such as crafting something from a piece of metal flashing. I got by with using the anvil on my bench vise, but it has succumbed to years of use it wasn't purposely designed for. This vise is just the right size for the type of work I do and allows me to freely manipulate my workpieces without interference. I am happy with the quality and durability of this vise and can highly recommend it.

Smaller then expected as titled but over all pretty good product for small projects.

Granted, this is a mighty beast of iron that is far from fragile and should survive the heaviest of blows with only a scratch, but shipping is another story with wreckless forklifts, high drop points, and the heave- ho of heavy items out of the hands to ground by not so gentle delivery man. As above the anvil arrived in the raw without protective wrap or cushioning and was placed in a thin flimsy beat up brown box with way too much wiggle room. The box was loosely taped leaving gaps that allowed alot of dirt and dust in. So not only was it covered in dust, but after a wipe, immediately noticeable was a dent and chipped area, basically an inward gash on the flat face at the top of the anvil or striking block portion pristinely ground flat for a reason but now disrupted . Likely was dropped on itself but bottom line..its flawed and lost its value for reliably shaping and furthermore runs the possibility of fracturing when used repeatedly as a striking surface. A packing job void of all common sense.
