As the largest organ in our body, our liver has 3 vital functions. It filters and detoxifies our blood, helps our digestion by producing bile and stores important vitamins and carbohydrates. Liver problems can be caused by a variety of factors that damage the liver, such as viruses, alcohol use, medications, and obesity. Our Liver Function Test helps detecting liver damage by determining the level of important liver markers.

PLEASE NOTE: Age of test taker must be 18+. Due to regulatory reasons, this test is currently not available in NY/NJ/RI/MD.

What is tested?

Alanine-aminotransferase (ALT) is an enzyme produced by the liver and has the primary function to help with chemical reactions in the body. Naturally, ALT in higher amounts can only be found in the liver, not in the blood. Therefore, low levels of ALT in the blood results are typical for a healthy adult. When the liver is damaged through accidents or diseases, ALT is released into the bloodstream causing ALT levels to rise. Elevated levels typically indicate a problem with liver cell integrity.

Like ALT, aspartate-aminotransferase (AST) is an enzyme found in the liver and other organs, but usually not so much in the blood stream. Therefore, when organs are damaged, they release an excess of AST into the blood, which we can measure with our test.

Bilirubin is a yellow pigment that is produced during the normal process of red blood cells dying. Our lab test measures the Total Bilirubin (TBILI) in the blood, including direct and indirect bilirubin.

This liver test from Verisana is quite a breeze to take, it only requires a blood sample. In this day and age, many people have liver problems, that would usually go unnoticed. Staying on top of my health has been more of a priority for me, especially after the pandemic. Sometimes I just have to sit down with myself and write out all the things I want to get done, for my mental health to be slightly better. At least it gets me about 5% less stressed and makes me feel more productive than I actually should lol. This comes with everything included, including a prepackaged envelope, which is so convenient!! Read instructions before bc some people accidentally mess up - due to not reading the instructions ahead of time… overall, got the job done, healthful, and interesting. 😌

They make it very hard to get test results. I registered my test kit and sent out my sample. The number assigned to the sample goes out with the kit. I did not see any reason to have the test kit number because I registed my kit on their websight. It has been over a month since I sent my sample. No results and the company tells me they need the test kit number.

I was shopping around looking for at-home liver function tests when I came across Verisana’s comprehensive test. Personally, I must say my experience with this product has been exceptional. I love the hassle-free nature of this product allowing me to monitor the health of my liver from the comfort of my own home. I ordered this product and received it within 12 hours! The instructions were easy to follow and user-friendly. I was surprised at how quick the blood sample experience was. At first, I was overwhelmed by the amount of things included within the sample test kit, but after a quick and thorough read of the small instructions sheet, I confidently completed the at-home aspect.While I was completing the test I was able to use my off hand to scan the extremely helpful QR code to register my kit. As a first-time user of Verisana products I had to create an account but once again this process was user-friendly and quick! The results were provided in a easy to consume way, I was worried waiting on the results that I would not understand the readings, but I was assured with the information provided that gave clarity to my results. I would highly recommend this at-home liver test, if you are looking for a quick and reliable test that you can take in your own environment.

I don't usually write reviews for Amazon products, but for this one I felt I should. I've been meaning for a while to get my vitals tested at the doctor's office, but given my schedule I could never find the time.This kit comes with everything you need to perform a test at home! The process is super easy and the instructions are clear. The results came back quickly and were available on my phone! This test kit is really easy to use, everything you need is included. The lancet is better quality than what was sent when i did a food sensitivity test from another company. The product arrived quickly, not sure how fast the results are because I just did the test. The only negative is that Amazon sent the box as is, not in an Amazon box, so you can see what kind of test I got, which would be embarrassing if it was an STD test!!

Don’t feel like going to the doctor? Order this test and it feels like the doctor has come to you in your own home! This test specifically tests your liver but you can order other ones to test other things such as your thyroid levels. Easy to do and quick response for your results… I would order again to test other things! I recommend this product!

The shipping of this product was extremely fast shipping! This kit includes everything needed, which is a lot more convenient compared to scheduling an appointment with the doctor. Especially with the extended waiting times, this product provides an easy way to monitor your liver function. The kit included an instruction guide on how to collect your sample, the testing equipment used to collect the sample, and a prepaid shipping package. The equipment used to collect the sample included an ADX100 test card, lancets, bandages, and alcohol pads. Easy way to measure your ALT, AST, and TBILI levels in the privacy of your own home for an affordable price!
