  • Signals: alternating current (ac), adjustable ac, full- and half wave rectified ac, smoothed direct current (dc), ripple and astable oscillator
  • Assembled and tested, not soldering required
  • Model Number: EDU06-VP
  • Country Of Origin: Hong Kong

Learn how to get the most out of your digital oscilloscope. The board generates a number of safe 'real-world' signals, which we will use to perform measurements. Get familiarized with AC, DC and frequency measurements, sine and square waves, power supply ripple, full and half WAVE rectifiers, oscillators etc. Learn what terms such as V/Div, time/Div, trigger level, auto-setup etc. Mean. Most experiments can be done with any digital storage scope. Some experiments can be performed with an analog scope.

I give it a 5 for what it is. A great tool for learning and teaching about what an Oscilloscope can do. I give it a 1 for quality as one of the solder joints at the power plug had been done very poorly and destroyed the pad. Therefor no power to the device. Easily fixed with a jumper wire but for petes sake, sell it as a kit and let me solder it myself. I could do better.

The kit runs your through some very basic signal measurements . . . Educational wise, it doesn't go very deep at all. Also, it looks like the intent of the kit was for it to be paired with the HPS Pocket Scope.

Board was fun to explore for about 30 minutes. Light documentation without interesting experiments. A number of the provided components had no experiments or meaningful reason they were provided. Clearly not worth the price.

I can't believe the poor quality of assembly. Excessive amounts of solder and flux everywhere....I was expecting high quality to go along with the premium brand and price. I heard so many good things about this brand. A little alcohol would have made a huge difference. I will be returning this item....

Very valuable learning tool, at least for me.

Really, $30 bucks and you can't even include a power supply? There are less than 5 bucks in components on this board.

This is definitely a useful learning tool if you are just starting out on oscilloscopes. It provides a variety of analog signals to view in order to familiarize you with the controls on a scope, what they do and and how to set them--it even teaches a bit of basic electronics at the same time in describing the circuitry on the board and what it does.It is very basic, but it is also inexpensive. The training boards which provide digital signals, various communications protocols, etc., can cost as much or more than a lower-end DSO these days.Like all of these training boards for scopes, the instructions are specific to a particular brand/model of scope or family of scopes, but the signals here are simple enough and the functions of the Velleman scope referenced in the instructions are common enough that the board can be easily used with any brand/model scope.

This makes a great example or visual aid when trying to explain oscilloscopes, and what they do, to people. It goes together easily and works as it is supposed to. Please note that you will need a power supply to use this. It requires 9 to 12 volts of ALTERNATING CURRENT to work properly.
