Making maple syrup for the first time and used this over a wood fire. Did great and was easy to use. Was a lot bigger then I thought, no complaints there. Can't wait to do it again next year!

I was a bit skeptical but decided to give this pan a chance.Worked well! Nice and deep and cleaned up pretty well. I bought 2!If it came with handles I would have rated 5 star.

Made my life cooking down sap for maple syrup a ton easier. Really reduces my cooking time. Surface area is key. Makes evaooration much faster. I cook on an outdoor wood burner, cleaning the soot off tgis stainless steal pan is surprisingly easy. If you're just starting out making syrup, this is the pan to get.

Poor quality control. So the pan is fine (no leaks), but the welded attachment (see photo and red arrow) was welded upside down, and when mated to the nozzle, the handle is always upside down position no matter what configuration I do. The problem with an upside down handle is that when you open the flow, the handle's position interferes with any container you want the syrup to run.

Works well for my hillbilly sap production set up. Good welds and no leaks. I love the valve for drawing off syrup. I’ll be adding at 90 degree spout and an extension for my set up to keep the valve and handle cooler and facilitate drawing off syrup.

I bought this pan in October 2023 to boil maple sap. Sap in KY starts to run in January. So, I have collected some sap already and tried using the pan for the first time today. Well, I could hear this constant hissing noise. I got to looking around the pan to see where the water was coming from (my pan or someplace else) and discovered the sap was dripping from the bottom corner of the pan. One of the welds must be bad. But now I can't return the item because it has been more than 30 days. Kind of disappointed with that since you only use this pan during sap season which isn't in October. But I wanted to have it and be prepared come sap season. I wish this was taken into consideration by the seller since the pan was brand new until today, the first time I used it. No returning this now. If you buy one I'd suggest testing it right away for leaks because the return window is short.

The handle for the ball valve is on the side when tightened all the way down instead of being on top where it should be. Despite this 1 issue it works great, holds quite a bit of sap and renders it down quite well. As the mesh skimmer I grabbed couldn't get out all the dirt and small bits of tree bark I put a coffee filter on the end of the spout and used twist ties to hold it on to catch all the debris I couldn't get out with the mesh skimmer. Worked quite well. It's quite easily cleaned. To keep from overfilling I only poured in about 5 gallons at a time, it also helped with rendering time as it got to boil much faster than if I filled it with all the sap I had.

Just used my 2' wide x 3' long x 9" deep evaporator yesterday for the first time. It worked great! No leaks in any of the welds or valves. I did check it a month ago by filling it with water to make sure it didn't leak, but I was still concerned what would happen once it was heated on the fire. No issues! I have been using three deep stainless steel steam pans for the past three few years, which worked well, but I wanted to take my sugaring hobby to the next level. What a difference! So much more efficient. I boiled down 45 gallons of sap in about 5 hours or so. It comes with the3/4" draw-off ball valve which I added a 4" extender to and elbow (all 304 food-grade stainless steel) to get me past my cinder block setup and help control to draw off. It also comes with an additional 1/2" ball valve for the other hole, but I added a thermostat instead. Highly recommend this pan for the backyard hobbyist. It is shipped very well with a great deal of rigid foam packing and thick cardboard to avoid damage in the shipping process. It did come a little dirty from the welding process, so make sure you clean yours well before use. "Sugar on.........!"
