It is what it says it is, a 4-inch brass ruler. I wanted it primarily as a straight-edge for underlining, and I needed something small enough to fit in my pencil case. It's the only 4-inch ruler I found, so I'm glad it's nice.

I purchased this ruler to make designs on the inside of paper plates for art projects for my son’s kindergarten class.My order came quickly enough and was in perfect condition. I was surprised at the quality of it given how much it was. It is exactly as described; completely metal and short enough to fit inside the ridges of a common paper plate. It is also very strong and does not bend. I look forward to using it for many art projects toCome. My only complaint would be at the lack of colors. If given the chance, I would have loved to get a blue or green version of this ruler.

I purchased a few of these rulers to give as gifts. Indeed they look bright and have accurate, stamped markings. The rounded corners make it comfortable to handle. A few things of note: - Each ruler measures 5" long exactly - Be aware that you can start your measurement only from the 0 inch side. From the 5 inch side, the markings end at 4 11/16", so if you try to measure starting at the 4" side, from the edge of the ruler to the 4" marking is NOT an even 1 inch - If you're used to measuring in metric this oddity might not be a problem for you, as the 12 cm. side does end on a full centimeter mark - The packaging contains a CA Proposition 65 warning "Cancer and Reproductive Harm - www.P65Warnings.ca.gov" I presume this is because the ruler is made of brass, which contains a small amount of lead.
