About this item

  • [SIZE] - Thread Dia: M3; Pitch: 0.5mm; Overall Size: 5mm x 4mm / 0.20" x 0.16"(OD*L)
  • [MATERIAL] - Made of brass material, high hardness and durable. Provides good mechanical properties with increased corrosion and heat resistance
  • [FEATURE] - The embedding nut has a guide so there is no need for a counterbore or countersink. Smooth surface, firm and uniform, easy to install.
  • [ADVANTAGE] - Due to the embossing process on the outer diameter of the insert, it forms certain friction and bites force with the brass insert after forming, which can be fixed on the inside so that it will not fall off easily. Has a certain torsion and tension.
  • [APPLICATION] - Can be installed by ultrasonic or heat into the plastic matrix, or formed during the injection, widely used in 3D printing injection molding to achieve tight fixation.

These inserts are great! Easy to insert into plastic parts for my 3D Printing business. Great prices as well.

So I bought these for a project I was working on and after receiving the package I was very surprised how bad these were. the knurling is so light that there are barely any ridges on the top ring of the inserts, and on the lower ring where there is also supposed to be knurling, most of them are practically smooth. Needless to say it put me behind as I didn't bother using any given the poor quality. Returning these as they are useless to me.

Used to fix an old picture frame. They worked well. They have a nice finished look

When I went to use them I had to go back and verify I actually purchased 3mm inserts...When I tried to thread a M3 bolt into this it was pretty tight and I initially thought maybe I purchased SAE threads. Nope, M3. I am not sure what the deal is, but threading an M3 bolt into these is difficult...you almost think you are cross-threading them. I guess I can chaulk it up as getting free lock-tite? Maybe I just got a bad batch? And yes, I am using the correct .5 mm pitch bolts. I dunno, I was able to make them work...

Works great for 3d printed PLA, PETG, and ABS. Width measures 5 mm accurately and I've found that a 4 mm hole is perfect for melting these into. A heat set soldering tip makes installing these a breeze.

These are as described and so far work perfectly with my ABS and PETG prints. I am planning on using these for a Voron 2.4r2 3D printer build and these are perfect for that. I do recommend purchasing a Heat-set Insert for your soldering iron.

Items arrived as described. Have not tested every peice yet but the ones I have used so far have been in spec and thread properly. Great for 3d printed parts especially if your part is reletively thin.I have found they sand easily if the width is a little larger than your need and still thread properly if you do it right. So far they have enough grip to stay in place and not strip out. I would definitely let your part cool before adding any tention or torque after inserting them so they do not become loose or wear out the contact points. As well as making sure the hole you are incerting these are wide and deep enough otherwise your material will creep into the threads and will make it a pain to clean out and repair (common with all inserts like this). In this case of operator error, I've had to heat up my screw/bolt with a torch or heat gun, quickly insert the screw/bolt then semi quickly remove the screw/bolt (so the heat insert doesn't heat up and wiggle out) to capture and pull out the excess material on the internal threads then clean off the screw and repeat until the threads are clean enough for use. The only bright side when a little material gets in the threads, it semi turns it into a "nylox" nut for screw/bolt retention. With that said, I am satisfied with my purchase.
