compressor ring tool worked without issue. I did file down the sharp edges of the "U" shaped retention (waterjet cut?) tool 'cause they be sharp.

I have no idea how many forks use this tool but it was exactly what I needed to remove the springs from the Showa forks on my '99 Aprilia RS250 MK2. No complaints. Best used with a helper but I was able to lever one end under my motorcycle lift and manage it with one hand while sliding the second tool in place with the other.
