I use these while doing wood turning at a lathe and when running a string trimmer over woodland trails. In both applications these have protected me from serious injury. I very recently had a quite heavy block of wood come off my lathe at high speed and strike the mask. I was not injured in the least, nor was the mask, but without it I could have had a very serious injury depending upon where it hit me. Over the years I have been using these the padding on the head strap may have worn out or a fastener lost, but I have never had one break or fail in any way in use. I've had five or six by now, but considering the amount of use they get, that seems fine to me. They don't cost a lot, but they can save a huge amount of money and misery.

I was using my weed trimmer without any eye protection. I got a piece of weed in my eye and even though I got it out my eye got infected. The infection was cleared up with antibiotics and now I wear it when ever I need eye and face protection. I love it. It’s so comfortable, I forget I even have it on while I’m working.

So, I go over to help a buddy out with a railing on his deck. He is installing a metal railing and I am bringing along my metal chop saw. And my Face Shield. I have gotten used to the way I look in the mirror and I didn't want to have to start all over again, with a bunch of scar tissue and such. A good face shield is a good thing - especially when cutting aluminum. At the end of the day, I forgot to take my face shield. Several weeks go by and I'm wanting to do some grinder work and I need a face shield. Well, my buddy is actually quite a distance away, so I decided to order this face shield, which I have seen before. If I ever got mine back, great! I would have two. Not a problem, having two. So, I order this one up. I had seen these before, so I knew what I was getting. This is a very nice face shield! It is light weight and offers a huge field of view. In fact, it is so wide on the side of the shield, you can't really see the left and right edges as you look straight forward. And unlike my old face shield, this one has a chin protector. Now, does it really protect your chin? I doubt it, but it does allow the front of the shield to dip quite low, so in a sense, yes, it does.I also like the black plastic trim that runs down the sides and across the bottom. You can grab the shield anywhere along those edges and you will not be touching the plastic shield, unlike my old mask. The suspension inside the shield is light weight and comfortable - at least it is for me. My old shield - the 3M Ratchet - is still a good shield, and I'll still us it. But this new one is just that much nicer. The actual "shield" is a bit easier to replace on the new one, and what I really like, is the ability to replace the front shield with tinted ones, too. A very nice option!I take safety seriously. If a new piece of equipment like this, would make you wear it more, I would say "Buy it". If you need a new shield, or even a second unit, again, I would say "Buy it". I think it's a good deal even if it's not on sale. Your eyes and face are really important. Don't take a chance. Buy the darn thing and use it!Purchased with my own money. Wanted you to know that. Thanks!

Very nice face shield, I'll be using for wood turning on my lathe. The helmet is lightweight and designed well. The lens is crystal clear (one the protective film is removed from both sides. (As a side note, I can't believe there are 203 reviews of this product giving 1 star because they couldn't figure out that the face shield has a protection film on it. It's scary to think that these people drive a car and vote!)This piece provides adequate protection without being restrictive and gives me full coverage on the sides of my face. The replacement lenses are inexpensive and it's good to always keep a couple on hand. This helmet has several points of adjustment to get a good fit.Overall, this is a definite good buy and I would buy again.

This shield is the exact same as Uvex branded shield. This is a very high quality item, the headgear is quite adjustable and comfortable. For example, I have worn this over a beanie hat, without a hat, and my 9-years old son can adjust the headgear to fit his much smaller head. I have been using this shield for wood turning and it's working very well for it. It provide forehead protection, in addition to the face, and the filter is made of polycarbonate, which is very strong, and the plastic frame around the filter adds rigidity. I tried another cheaper face shield, but don't like it quite as much because the headgear adjustment is a hassle. On this shield the adjustment knob makes re-adjusting the headgear a one-second affair, so I just got a second one of this face shield.

Hello All, It's Steve_In_TN With Another Review! This product is awesome. I planned on getting one of the crazy cool safety masks from Westworld, but those bad boys are expensive. I'll put a link below if you want to coolest of safety gear. This split the balance between looking cool and being very affordable.Construction:Fit: No issues. Highly adjustable fitFeel: I like how it sits. You can adjust to how it rests.Usability: It works great for grinding, cutting, sanding, etc. It will fit a respirator underneath if you have one that is somewhat low-profile. Best thing...you can replace the face shield if it gets messed up!Issues: A little heavy.Pros:Solid constructionShields very wellDoesn't fog easilyFits a respirator (low-pro)Replaceable face shield!Cons:It's a bit heavyI would recommend this product. It provides a great viewing area, doesn't fog easily, and has a replaceable plexiglass face. The 3/4 Westworld-style Face Shield

I bought this for working with my lathe and I like it well enough. I like the looks and the way it raps around my entire face and even under the jaw line partially. I definitely feels safer with it as opposed to the traditional style face masks. I would have given it 5 stars but it doesn't always stay in the up position if it gets bumped. I'd rate it 4.5 stars if I could because it's not worth taking a full star away from the product. I'd highly recommend this product, especially to wood turners.Upate on original review. I've used this mask now a bunch of times since January. This has been a very good mask for me. In the beginning it didn't want to stay up but now it seems to stay up fine. It's pretty tough as well, I've taken a few hits from chunks of wood flying off the lathe. Some were small others were decent sized chunks, the biggest was a 4" x 4" x 16 1/2" hunk of wood that came off the chuck and hit me right on the lense. It definitely scared the crap out of me but it didn't hurt the mask or me. I do need to replace the lense but it's just because it has splatter spots from stains, sealers, and glue. I can't seem to find a replacement though so I may buy another mask. The price isnt bad and it's truly worth it. I rated this 4 stars on my original review ( I wanted to give 4 1/2 stars) but now I'd easily give it 5 stars.

I must admit the first time I saw this, I was drawn by the space age look. The price seems a little high at first since you can find other face shields sub-$10. In the end, I believe this was a very worthy investment. The shield pivots like a welding mask and has adjustments so it can sit closer or further away from your face. No issues with fitting around my glasses. The head band has two adjustments on top and on the back which gives a very snug fit that stays no matter how I move my head. This stability turns out to be a very important advantage I didn't think of when shopping for cheaper alternatives. The head band has dense foam padding in the forehead side and softer felt in the back and I've worn it for several hours without any discomfort. The polycarb. shield is very clear and easy to remove. The shield also worked well over a respirator. After some metal cutting with cutoff wheels, I found the static properties of the plastic can attract the fine dust. A simple rinse in the sink cleans it up and ready for the next project.
