the "null modem" variant is not a null modem adapter. I had to use a null modem cable AND gender adapter to get this adapter to work properly.

For both the standard and the null modem, the description says PL2303GT but for the "standard" what arrived was PL2303TA, when you plug it in, in the device manager is says it is not supported by Windows 11 or later. (the other one shows up fine). On a side note, what they are saying is the standard pinout is the null modem pinout and vise versa for the standard. I had to figure that out the hard way (they do give the pinouts, so I could have looked it up). What I really wanted was the null modem cable, so purchase was a failure.

I could only get this working with Windows 10, Windows 11 complained about not supporting the chipset. I hope in future release that is resolved.

This review is in regards to the pinout: 2-TXD, 3-RXD 5-GND, 7-CTS. 8-RTIf you're looking for a game to update Revenge From Mars with using the MyPinballs updater software. This cable worked flawlessly.As a fair warning. I did have to ensure the COM port was set to COM1 first.

Cable worked to update my Revenge From Mars pinball using Windows 10. Success!IMPORTANT: You must use the Null modem pinout: 2-TXD, 3-RXD 5-GND, 7-CTS. 8-RT version for this task. Amazon's review system is defaulting my review to the standard pinout.
