I love pine needle mulch. The amount delivered goes far. I place about 1” of pine needle mulch mixed with compost around young trees, shrubs, and perennial flowers. Pine needle mulch is lighter and easier to work with than bagged mulch without the use of plastic bags and the pine needles break down slowly over 2-3 years. Tree back or wood mulch usually breaks down into soil after one year so I used to have to reapply it annually. Pine needle mulch keeps providing soil moisture retention for 2-3 years. The mulch smells great and is mold resistant.

I have used this product in my garden and around my trees and plants. It lasts g=though the winter and rains. I highly recommend it. The company is quick to respond to any problems and is so easy to work with.

The good is there wasn’t much debris mostly clean pine needles. It was well packed and stuffed to the brim. The needles are very long. I found it a little challenging to use on my potted plants just be patient. The plants seem very happy and it has kept them warm during this coolish weather. This box was plenty for my small garden with a large black bag filled with extra material. Use gloves because I did hit a branch of something with prickers! Will I buy this again, answer is yes.

This pine straw is serving well in the garden. Strawberry patches use this all year. Other gardens are under the straw for winter. The long needles mean this can be placed on the ground and the resulting mat operates as a whole (v individual needles blowing around in a breeze). Unlike some I’ve gotten, this does not roll out as a mat. That is good and bad for depending on the job. It is quite clean with occasional pine cones & branch pieces. It is well dried. The packing is tight but easily used. It is packed in bundles (without wire or string) so that a section is easily lifted from the box. The needles are sturdy and stay intact as the straw is being spread. Even with moderately windy conditions this has been staying where it was placed.

These pine needles are really good for mulching. They come in sort of little cubes inside the box, and it's easy to pull those apart to spread the needles. They go on very fluffy, but with a bit of time and rain smooth down to a reasonable thickness. My blueberry bushes LOVE this, and produced the best they ever have once I mulched with this in spring. I also used it on a "woodland walkway" kind of area, and it's been really nice. No weeding or mowing, and very attractive and soft to walk on. Last year was the first year I used these, and the mulch all still looks in fine shape a year later.

This was such a great idea! In the past, I had to drive down to Home Depot, go talk to the guy in the big truck in the parking lot, put a bunch of straw in my car and dirty it up, leave the guy, a tip, haul the straw all the way back up to the terrace, and it took so much time and was such an aggravation. Now that I know I can just order a box of straw that is delivered to my place and all I need to do is spread the straw on my terrace patio, this is so much better so much more efficient, I will be ordering this box of straw going forward! The packaging in the box was super neat, super clean, and it covered a lot of territory on my yardette. I am so grateful that these people provide the service, a real quality of life change for the better!

I bought this pine straw last year from this same company and wasn’t pleased with it. Some of it looked gray, so not fresh. It also had some dried vines in some of it along with pieces of bark and a few pine cones. I did not plan to order it again. But I read so many reviews that said it was fresh and clean I thought last year’s box was maybe just a fluke. I ordered again this year (a little earlier than I usually mulch because of having the house painted and previous mulch needed freshening). This year’s purchase was fresher, nice color, but it still had bark and twigs in it. At first I was trying to pick it out, but that became such a chore I started to shake it to drop the debris onto the previous layer and then laid the fresh pine tags on top to hide it. 240 square feet should have been more than enough to cover flower beds across the front of the house - especially since it was not the first layer of pine straw, but I had to actually skip some areas. My preference as mulch is pine straw, I think it looks nice and sets off the beds in a pretty way. We have a couple of pine trees in our yard which give me some needles - but not enough - I always have to supplement. Not sure I’d recommend this source because of the 2 experiences I’ve had. I will add though that the shipment came earlier than I expected and was packaged in a sturdy box, conveniently delivered to my front porch.
