Our years of experience engineering smelting furnaces for home, hobby, and commercial use has led to the creation of our best-selling Cast Master GG 5000 Propane Furnace. With 5 Kg of metal melting capacity, the propane-fueled GG 5000 is a workhorse that will allow you to explore a wide variety of projects.
Multiple Uses
With 5 Kg of crucible capacity the GG 5K can take on a whole host of projects from large to small. Whether you’re working with old cans, or melting down old copper pipe, the GG 5K can handle it. Gold, silver, aluminum and other metals can be melted down and poured into the included ingot mold, or cast into your own projects.
5 Kg Crucible
The crucible is the heart of a furnace, and we designed the GG 5K with a graphite crucible that’s able to handle the torturous environment of continued high temps, but with a capacity that makes larger jobs possible.
Heavy Duty Construction
With a stainless steel outer body, thick Kaowool insulation, propane regulator with CSA Group Certification, and a heavyweight pair of safety tongs, the GG 5K has the features that you need to get serious and avoid wasting precious time on your metal projects.
Cast Into Ingot Mold
Once you are ready to cast the metal, you need something sturdy to pour it into. While some folks use the old muffin tins from the kitchen, there’s no substitute for a real heavy-duty ingot tray. (not included)
Fully Detachable No-Hinge Lid
Our insulated no-hinge lid helps to make sure no energy is wasted. With a maximum temperature capability of 2700°F produced by our incredible 80,000 BTU burner, the GG 5K can reach metal melting temperatures in as little as 15 minutes. Designed from top to bottom to make metal melting productive and FUN!

As a beginner metallurgy hobbyist I needed something small to get me started. After reading many reviews, I decided on this Cast Master to get me started. Other people's reviews were helpful to know the best way to have success. If all goes well, then I'll be purchasing more Cast Master.

Enjoyed the simplicity of it along with feeling in control and safe while dealing with propane.The loud torch sound is nothing to fear when using it. You want that loud sound to gain the best heat.Melting cans and casting ingots is a lot of fun!

I got a great deal on this unit and decided to try it. I've had it for several months now but finally got around to breaking it in and melted about 60 cans the other night. It lit and ran good, took a bit to get the gas on the bottle, the control on the propane hose and the air adjustment on the furnace adjusted right, but once I did it made short work of the cans. You will want a spoon of some sort with a decent length handle to get rid of the dross that forms from the paint and crap on the cans. My crucible also didn't have a pour spout and I learned I should have filed one because I poured a lot of the aluminum on the ground, lol. oh well, first time trying anything like this and had a great time, can't wait to do more.

After almost 3 months of reading reviews and watching videos on YouTube, I really wanted to order a Devil Forge. But for some reason, their website wouldn't load. I decided I would look at some of the other options out there, because I was tired of just watching other people enjoying the hobby...Shipping? I did not opt to pay for quicker delivery, and still had my furnace in 4 days.Out of the box? I was surprised how compact (small) the furnace seemed at first glance (I should have read the dimensions a little closer). Everything was packed nicely, and nothing was damaged between the warehouse and my front door. The instructions were simple and clear. The only thing I needed to do was attach the burner to the furnace.First experience smelting? I was not disappointed. There was a little bit of a challenge getting the right balance between how far open to have the propane regulator and the choke. After adjusting it to where I felt it was right, things went pretty well. I spent the next 3 hours not realizing how fast time was passing, and about half of the bags of soda cans are out of my garage.What would I do different? I would order a propane regulator with a gauge on it. Other than that, nothing. Some day, I will order a Devil Forge, but this isn't going to be my only Cast Masters furnace either.

I purchased the furnace as a "used" unit but doesn't look like it's ever been fired up. It arrived promptly. The product appears to be well made. The gas regulator assembly has already been properly converted to the correct fitting for US propane tanks. So I am rating the furnace 5 stars. However, if there was a way to rate Amazon's repackaging separately, I would rate that a weak 2. Reason being they shipped the crucible INSIDE the furnace so that as the package was handled and jostled around the crucible squished the kaowool insulation so instead of being 1" thick, it is now maybe 1/2" thick and I will need to replace it before I can safely use the furnace.
