This paid for itself the first time we used it tapping #4-40 blind holes in plastic. Hundreds completed quickly without a single thread stripped. Have also used with 5/16" blind holes in steel, again quick and simple.Remember to ask for the ANSI collets if you want to use it for standard threads. The Zac store are easy to contact and fast to respond.

I own a small job shop and wanted to be able to improve productivity making parts with a lot of tapped holes such as fixture plates. So far it has been great! It may be a little light duty if you are running it continuously for 8 hour shifts but for intermittent works it’s perfect. Movement is nice, and has good power.Not all the features are clear in the description so here they are.1) Manuel tapping2) auto tapping which feeds down a set depth and then reverses out.3) Deep hole which feeds in a set depth and then backs out a set depth to break the chips if you are tapping a deep hole. This will auto continue until you get to the set full depth.4) Adjustable head angle to tap hole at any angle.All the speeds, depths, and torque are adjustable on the screen. It defaults to metric but has imperial. The only thing it doesn’t have is imperial for the thread pitch. So when you are tapping an imperial thread you just need to convert the pitch to metric and punch in the value. It only takes an extra 30 sec so not a big deal, especially for the price.It comes with a set of metric collets and I contacted them to get a set of imperial which were very reasonable to add on.All in all, great quality product for the price and a must have for any small machine or job shop. The time it’s saves is huge, and the quality of your parts will be better than hand tapping.

This automated tapping head worked perfectly out of the box. Seller provided excellent assistance in getting English tap collets. The machine has improved my production. I use the tapper mainly in HDPE and Acetal plastics, along with 6061 aluminum. The only improvement I could see would be to have a firmware update for English taps. I think anyone who consistently taps materials would benefit from this machine. Wish I had another just like it!
