I got this as a next step in my floor mopping journey. It was a good step.In my house there are five living beings who regularly track dirt in on the floors. There is one being who cleans them.I've used roombas. I've used swiffers. Wet swiffers. Commercial dust mops. Scrub brushes. Hand. And knees.Each method has plusses and minuses. This spin mop system is very good at the wet mopping segment of the floor cleaning regimen.I started by manually sweeping the kitchen and dining room. The worst spot was under the table (where the seats are built in benches on one side) where my five year old sits. I got lots of dog hair, snack fragments, and other debris but there was plenty of kid good and generic dirtieness left over for the spin mop to work on.I used the fill spout under the kitchen sink and added only hot water (not boiling, just shower hot) to the bucket. It took a few tries to figure out the whole system even though I read the directions.What you must absolutely learn is that slow pushes add water and clean the mop head. Fast pushes dry it out. When it's going fast enough, there are two spring loaded red indicators that you can see as it spins. If they aren't showing, you're probably good enough to be wetting/cleaning but maybe still too fast. Do yourself a favor and slow down the cleaning pushes.To press the mop down on the spinning mechanism you have to first unlock the bottom extension by opening the tab. Opening and closing the tab is something that you have to do with every spin, but it's easy and becomes intuitive after a couple tries.My floor was VERY dirty before starting so I eventually got up to fifteen presses before I went back to the floor. You can see gunk (in our case it was mostly dog hair) collect on the cleaner brushes in the bucket. They're easy to dump into the dirty water.The dirty water can be poured out of the bucket by tipping it toward the perforated side or by pulling the drain plug.With a little elbow grease the system worked well. I didn't have to change pads, just the water (total of two fills) to get the floor very clean.The big advantages here are: you can better judge cleanliness than a roomba type device, there's no wasted materials like a swiffer type device. Also, I appreciated that it applied even pressure and that I didn't feel the need to press it with my foot to get edges.It doesn't do everything, but what it does do, it does plenty well enough to justify the current price.

At first this looked a little complex when I pulled it out of the box. It was interesting but not entirely sure how this really would work.I read the instructions and I think I just had an airhead moment because I couldn't figure out how to make the mop spin. I kept pushing down like it said but I feared I would break it - no spin and it wasn't giving. Then I re-read the instructions and had my AHA moment -- you have to unlock the handle and then push down. After that my mop was spinning around and around.After working with it for a bit, I found there are several interesting things about this mop system.- It has a reservoir for the clean water and dirty water -- it keeps them separated. Much better than my other mop system.- There is also a plug on the bottom side for the dirty water. So you can just put the bucket on your counter by the sink, unplug and empty out the dirty water. Then just keep going.- The mop heads are a nice square size and the mop handle rotates quite nicely. I was able to get into corners easily and tackle a lot more because of the big mophead size.- They included 6 mopheads, which are safe for the washer, so that will for sure last a while. But I like that they can get cleaned and re-used.- There are little brush heads on the mop bucket that actually clean the mophead, scrape and remove the debris. If you look at your mophead after spinning, you will see the lines where it was cleaning the mophead. That definitely made me feel better that I was cleaning more efficiently with a cleaner mophead each time.- It doesn't take up a huge amount of room. I put this on a shelf in my utility closet and fit in quite nicely without much effort.I am still playing with it and getting comfortable each time I use it. But right now I don't have anything bad to say. I think it will help.
