This handy device make is easy to refill 1 lb. propane bottles from any 20 lb. tank. It has an on/off valve on it, so that you can shut off the propane flow at any time during the process, making for a safer and more controlled filling process. It also has a gauge that measures how much propane is going into the 1 lb. bottle as you're filling it, another good safety feature. The 90-degree design make it much easier to fill the bottles without having to hold the big tank upside down. There are other basic refill adapters out there, but this one is definitely 5-Stars, with the its safety and convenience features.

If you want to save a few dollars on camp propane bottles, this is the way.The meter lets you see exactly how much is transferred, and the design makes it easy to attach and disconnect.

I have been using a similar adapter for many years. I got this one for parts to make a safer assembly.Shopping list:This refill adapterOne 1/4” NPT X 4” brass pipe nippleOne 1/4” NPT short unionOne 5-foot propane hose for partsDisassembly:Remove and discard any valves, gauges, or regulators from the hose (leave the QCC1 fitting on one end).Disassemble this refill adapter and retain the valve, elbow, and 1” tank connector (leave the 1” fitting connected to the elbow).Assembly:1) Connect the hose to the valve.2) Connect the 4” pipe nipple to the other end of the valve.3) Connect the union to the nipple.4) Connect the elbow and 1” tank fitting to the elbow.Result:QCC! fitting connected to, 5’ hose connected to, ball valve connected to, 4” brass pipe connected to, an elbow connected to, the 1” tank fitting. With this arrangement, you can:1) Place the 20-pound tank of liquid propane on the ground where it will not fall over.2) You have a 5' of flexible hose so you don't knock over the large tank while filling the small tank.3) Your ball valve is not under the big tank.4) You can place the small tank at the correct 45 degree angle to vent gas.5) The ball valve is 4" from the small tank's vent so you do not get sprayed with liquid propane as you close the valve.Note: be careful when liquid propane starts to come out of the small tank’s vent. That liquid propane is at negative 43 degrees F and will freeze your skin instantly. Been there done that. Ouch!

Great item to have in your hurricane/ emergency kit. Also good for camping kit re-supply. This attachment lets you refill 1lb propane bottles from a bulk tank. Includes small amount of teflon tape for leak free connections. Brass and painted steel construction is good quality, hard plastic tank attachment is strong and fits well. Lever turns smoothly and gauge is easy to read. A small but important item to have in case your 1 lb portable propane bottles run out. Also more economical as the 1 lb bottles -formerly cheap- can now run $5 each+ depending on your location. There is always a mad rush for supplies when a storm is inbound and the 1lb bottles go quickly. Be ready with this adaptor so you can focus on other prep duties in advance of the storm.

Easy and simple to use, this will pay for itself filling just a few tanks. It will work well if you have a counter to turn the large propane tank upside down, you can't use it how the tank would normally sit. The guard is cheap, but the rest of the adapter is well-built.

My setup was a half-full 20-gallon propane tank, this tool, my smaller cylinders a pair of gloves and some needle nosed pliers. Do this outside in a well-ventilated area away from flame sources.Make sure you're using an old pair of work gloves because you're going to get propane all over them and the smell just lingers.First connect this to your large propane tank and make sure the red valve is turned off. Then open up the gas from the propane tank and set it up-side down on a table.Next, connect the small propane canister right side up to the other end of the adapter nice and tightly.Once both tanks are connected tightly, go ahead and open the red valve so that the gas can flow into the smaller tank. Now put your gloves on and grab your needle nose pliers and lightly grab the little pin that's sticking out of the Schrader-like valve on the small propane tank. You want to lightly pull the small stem upward and that will release a bunch of gaseous propane as the liquid will flow from the large tank into the smaller one.Hold this pin up for about a minute. Because of the decompression, things will get pretty cold, so make sure you have those gloves on. Stop when liquid propane starts sputtering out the valve. (When you get some practice with this, you can stop earlier and not waste too much propane)Once done, close the red valve and disconnect the small bottle. Keep the small bottle outdoors for at least half an hour as there will be a continuous leak out the small valve until the pressure normalizes. It should stop after about 10-20 minutes depending on how much you've overfilled the smaller bottle. Note that in warmer temperatures, this valve may release more gas as needed. You'll also notice that your small bottle is noticeably heavier than before which means you've done it right.Remember to turn off the main valve on your large propane tank when you store everything away.
