I ordered my radio free programmed for my local county. It arrived in just a few days, and I was quite happy with the range of departments that were covered. I still wanted to make a few minor adjustments, (I didn't really need the airport frequencies), but I found that the user's manual was lacking in detail for the first time user. After watching several videos on youtube, I was able to learn the basics of programming. I highly recommend the radio, but be prepared to do a little research if you want to make adjustments.

In a BIG way! Last time I was involved in scanning, the Radio Shack PRO-2006 was still state-of-the-art (I have several.) This is a good unit, very capable, and I suffer from the fact of it being smarter than I am.
