Very nice scanner, purchased as open box at better price.Easy to operate, easy to program. It has programing/channel structure like older scanners - banks and each bank contains channels, which I prefer over complicated programming of some other, more expensive trunking/digital scanners .I have it connected to the roof wideband antenna and have good reception from all around.It can be used out of the box with preprogrammed services. DMR and NXDN (yes digital) works right away when signal is received, no need to turn it on.Programming software can be downloaded free from uniden web site.My minor complains so far are - blue led on squelch open ( green would be fine :) , direct entry frequency could be made more straight forward, during DMR reception some info like TG,CC code, etc would be nice to see on the display.People giving bad reviews for this scanner have absolutely no technical knowledge and/or doesn't read the specs before purchase and then they cry that it's only analog, it doesn't have trunking, p25, it's hard for them to program and so on. C'mon..

I bought this scanner to replace my bct15x for future proof for nxdn railroad switch works like a charm easy to program got it set up and running in less than 15mins all these negative reviews are because people do not know how to read "fine print" and know what this unit is for frequency wise.This scanner been working fantastic for me and also planning on upgrading my handheld to uniden 160dn.

So this is a good scanner only issue I see is programming it by computer finding software that works, the software through the company that is stated works for this scanner dose not all others you have to buy the software that I do not like this company needs to get their act together and make the software at no charge for the price of the unit

advertised as digital scanner but it is ANALOG only. Will not work with police frequency in this areaas they are all digital. I tried for six months to make this work, finally talked to a radio technicianwho told me the truth. Wish I could send it back but too late now. Never believe what's printed.

My dad is the ultimate nosey neighbor, so I got this for him after our local police stations switched frequencies. He loves it, I taught him how to switch between two different dispatches and NOAA (he's 65 so that wasn't an easy feat) and it's on the entire time he's awake.
