Neck strain and visibility are always a compromise with chest packs. The ZS2 Overlook 500 Chest Pack resolves both with a 4-point harness attachment and sleek, tapered face. And, with this kit, you can choose from two back options, a flat mesh back and a full 550 cubic inch back with net holster. And, all of the great ZeroSweep features come along for the ride. Two ZeroSweep retractor stations (great for nipper and floatant attachment), ambidextrous hemostat station, foam fly patch and tippet holder cover all your key accessories.

I own (or have owned) just about every fly fishing pack option you can think of. All the Fishpond, Simms, Patagonia and Orvis options (to include multiple waterproof options) over the past few years. Hip packs, back packs, sling packs and chest packs. This is the best and has the least trade offs. I am an older angler and have shoulder issues and sling packs just don’t work really well for me if I am going out for more than an hour. This Umpqua chestpack comfortably carries a days worth of gear and stays out of the way. My shoulders never hurt.Hip packs for me, while being attractive conceptually, never seem to stay where I want them on my waist (a belly and old man butt is a bad combo) and I just get frustrated having to get stuff out of them. Everything I need is up front and easy to access with the Overlook. The backpack is killer for carrying some other stuff and with the ability to have a slim mesh back panel I now have a perfect winter solution. I can easily have my Umpqua chestpack under my Simms waterproof backpack and now I have the ability to carry changes of clothing in the winter while still having the utility of a full chestpack. In short, there is no perfect solution, but this one is the closest.

I've only used this twice since purchasing, so still adjusting where I want to carry everything. I watched a ton of reviews trying to decide between Fishpond's Cross Current and this pack. Ultimately, I chose this one because of the extra backpack it comes with, thought it would provide more versatility on longer days when I want to take lunch, snacks or a rain jacket. So far, I'm really liking it and would purchase again.

I'm 6' tall 350lbs, this pack adjusted to fit me! It is well designed and spacious. It is highly adjustable!I did have to take a minute to understand how the back panels work. I thought they were to be used in conjunction with each other; but they are designed to be switched out depending on your fishing style that day. The mesh back for close to the truck, no extra gear needed; and the back pack for the long day away from the road.

Bought this setup to replace my previous vest-pack. When I fish, I tend to be out on the river most of the day. I need space for all of my gear as well as water, rain jacket, lunch, etc. I'm pleased to say this pack fulfils these requirements and then some. It's a solid piece of kit, feels like it should hold up for a while. There's plenty of room in the chest pack for 3-4 large fly boxes and all the fixins, tippet, leaders, flotant, etc. The tippet holder at the bottom seems a little wonky though. You can't really see it while wearing the pack. The removable back pack has a nice hanging point and hose slot for a water bladder and can fit a few more items besides. The one thing I can't seem to figure out is the net slot on the back pack. I have a "traditional" short handled net, and although it sits in the slot fine I just can't seem to grab it easily when I need it. I feel like a long handled guide-style net might be better suited for this pack. This could be a me problem though, with some adjustments and practice I might be able to figure it out.Overall great product, I hope this is the last pack I buy for a while.
